The most common cause of diarrhea in pregnant women is gastrointestinal infection. Listeria monocytogenes is a common bacteria that causes diarrhea in pregnant women. Pregnant women infected with Listeria monocytogenes may suffer miscarriage or premature birth, so it should be taken seriously. People are mainly infected by eating soft cheese, inadequately heated chicken, unheated bread, milk, pasteurized milk, ice cream, raw steak, grilled lamb chops, cabbage salad, lettuce, tomatoes, pie, frozen pork tongue, etc. About 85%-90% of cases are caused by contaminated food, so pregnant women should eat fresh food and try to eat food stored in the refrigerator.

What to do if pregnant women have diarrhea before delivery

1. Moderate infusion:

Pregnant women with diarrhea should first be given appropriate fluids. They can also prepare some fluid and easy-to-digest rice porridge for them. During the infusion, closely observe whether the fetus is in good condition and whether there are any signs of miscarriage or premature birth. If the fetus is in an abnormal condition, you should go to the hospital immediately for medical treatment. Do not neglect it to avoid delaying the treatment and causing miscarriage or premature birth.

If the possibility of miscarriage or premature birth is ruled out, the medication can be taken with caution according to the degree of diarrhea in the pregnant woman. Do not use opium-based drugs to treat diarrhea, because this type of drug may cause bacterial penetration and repeated infection, which will aggravate the condition. Diarrhea in pregnant women can be treated with more mild anti-diarrhea drugs, and pregnant women can also be given some microecological preparations to regulate intestinal bacteria.
