Everyone knows that the skin on the buttocks is very strong and not prone to diseases. However, some people do not pay attention to hygiene, so they may accidentally get ringworm on their buttocks. So how does ringworm on the buttocks come about, and what exactly causes ringworm on the buttocks? Let’s talk about it in detail below.

What is the cause of ringworm on the buttocks

Tinea cruris refers to skin ringworm that occurs in the pubic and thigh areas of the human body. It is a skin disease caused by bacterial infection. This type of ringworm is mainly distributed in the groin, perineum and around the anus at the root of the thigh. The occurrence of this disease is also related to poor local hygiene and the presence of other skin ringworm diseases. In the current medical history, secondary folliculitis may be caused by scratching. Because the skin of the pubic and thigh areas is relatively delicate, care should be taken to avoid the use of high-concentration and highly irritating Chinese medicine preparations. It is advisable to use milder ringworm lotions or ringworm ointments for external application, such as general ringworm water, Baodao ringworm water, spiny seed and earth hibiscus tincture, etc., which are generally diluted to a concentration of 1/2. 5% to 10% sulfur cream, realgar cream, etc. can also be used. It is recommended that you choose ketoconazole ointment for external application of the wound for treatment, combined with oral administration of fluconazole tablets, the actual effect should be very good, observe it yourself, and cultivate a good lifestyle adjustment. Ringworm on the buttocks is a type of tinea corporis.

Ringworm on the buttocks is often caused by Exodermatophytes floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, etc. Sometimes, Candida albicans also invades the groin area and presents as erythematous and scaly patches with papules and herpes along the edges. Among them, Trichophyton rubrum is more common in our daily life. For example, onychomycosis is caused by the well-known Trichophyton rubrum, and Exodermatophyton is one of the culprits causing tinea pedis and tinea manuum. We should usually prevent the invasion of viral infections.

Because the buttocks grow in a relatively hidden area, if you don't discover it carefully, you won't know that you have ringworm on your buttocks. By the time I realized that ringworm had appeared on my buttocks, the situation was already serious. Therefore, in normal times, everyone must pay attention to their own hygiene, so as to avoid ringworm on the buttocks.

What kind of people are prone to tinea cruris?

Tinea cruris is a tinea disease that occurs in the groin, upper thigh and vulva. The most common location is the skin at the base of the thigh on the same side of the scrotum. The lesion initially appears as a small red macules with small desquamation on the surface. The rash then expands and slowly spreads around, forming annular or semi-annular patches. Generally, the lesions worsen in summer and are significantly relieved in winter.

Tinea cruris is caused by bacteria, so like other tinea diseases, there must be an environment suitable for the growth and reproduction of bacteria, as well as a source of bacteria, that is, pathogens.

Generally speaking, tinea cruris occurs more often in men, because the inner side of the buttocks is close to the scrotum, especially in fat people, they are completely close to each other, and the secretions and stains on them are not easy to remove. In addition, the local temperature is high and humid, which is very suitable for the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Therefore, men are prone to tinea cruris. Women rarely suffer from tinea cruris, but if the body is too fat, the vulva and thigh skin have many wrinkles, and if they sweat a lot and do not pay attention to clean, it is also a favorable factor for the growth of bacteria. Therefore, women may also develop jock itch.

In addition, the occurrence of tinea cruris is also related to the body's reduced resistance. If the patient is bedridden for a long time and has a weak constitution, especially those with diabetes, malignant tumors, and long-term use of corticosteroids or immunosuppressants, they are more likely to develop tinea cruris than normal people. Of course, it doesn't mean that tinea cruris will occur if you have a weak constitution. There must be a bacterial infection. The bacteria of tinea cruris mainly come from tinea pedis, which can be your own or someone else's.
