Pregnant women physical examination schedule

Pregnant women physical examination schedule

Women may experience various symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, such as amended menstruation, breast pain, drowsiness, and poor appetite. Pregnant women must undergo three tests during pregnancy: screening for Down syndrome, screening for fetal malformations, and screening for gestational diabetes. A timely pre-pregnancy physical examination is beneficial to the health of the fetus. So what is the schedule for maternity check-ups?

1. The first prenatal check-up is around 12 weeks of pregnancy, which is when the early pregnancy is over. It is a formal prenatal check-up. The examination items include abdominal B-ultrasound, routine blood test, routine urine test, routine stool test, etc. And during the prenatal check-up, the doctor will apply for a prenatal guide for pregnant women, which is convenient for recording all the test results in the middle and late stages.

2. The second prenatal check-up is between 13 and 16 weeks of pregnancy. In addition to basic examinations, Down syndrome screening is also required.

3. The third examination is done around 178 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. During this period, abdominal B-ultrasound examination can be performed to observe the development of the fetus.

4. The fourth prenatal check-up is around 21 to 24 weeks of pregnancy, and pregnant women are required to undergo diabetes screening. If a pregnant woman develops diabetes, that is, gestational diabetes, she needs to control her diet. If a reasonable diet is not effective, hypoglycemic drugs may be needed for treatment.

5. The fifth prenatal check-up is between 25 and 28 weeks of pregnancy, and a hepatitis B virus test is required to facilitate the baby to be vaccinated against hepatitis B within 24 hours after birth.

6. The sixth prenatal check-up is between 29 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. Pregnant women need to undergo basic examinations, as well as observe whether there is edema, blood pressure, etc.

7. The seventh prenatal check-up is between 32 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. This stage is mainly to assess the development of the fetus and the criteria for pregnant mothers to choose natural delivery.

8. The eighth prenatal check-up is at 36 weeks of pregnancy, and starting from this week, pregnant women need to have a prenatal check-up every week to prepare for delivery. The new items of general prenatal examination are fetal heart rate monitoring, fetal abdominal circumference, abdominal B-ultrasound, etc.

9. The ninth prenatal check-up is at 37 weeks of pregnancy, and the items checked are the same as those at 36 weeks.

10. The tenth prenatal check-up is at 38 weeks of pregnancy, which is the full-term period. At this time, the baby is likely to be born. Pregnant women need to undergo routine physical examinations and pay attention to any signs of labor, such as abdominal pain, uterine contractions, and private bleeding.
