Will I continue to have my period during the confinement period?

After giving birth, women will directly enter the confinement period. During the confinement period, women should not eat cold food and the body should not be too tired, otherwise they may catch a cold. Many women will actively take care of their bodies during the confinement period, but some women find that they have their periods during the confinement period. So, will you have your periods during the confinement period?

The confinement period is about 4 weeks after giving birth. During this period, the mother will pay attention to her behavior and diet to ensure her postpartum recovery. Women who have just given birth will also have postpartum lochia. The excretion of postpartum lochia generally lasts about a month, so it is not easy to have menstruation during the confinement period. The blood that flows out of a woman's vagina during the confinement period is postpartum lochia, not menstruation.

It is not easy to have menstrual period during the confinement period. What looks like menstrual period is the metabolism of postpartum lochia. Generally speaking, the first menstrual period for women after giving birth will be 6 weeks later. Women with late menstrual periods may not go home even for half a year after giving birth.

In addition, women's menstrual period is also greatly affected by breastfeeding. If a woman is breastfeeding after giving birth, her menstruation will come later, probably four or five months later. If a woman does not exclusively breastfeed, her period will come earlier. A natural birth will take about three months, while a caesarean section will take about 2 to 6 months.

Many people think that if a woman does not have her period after giving birth, she will not ovulate and will not get pregnant again. In fact, this understanding is very wrong. Even if a woman does not have her menstruation after giving birth, she may still have an ovulation period. If contraceptive methods are not taken in time, the baby may be conceived, which is very bad for the healthy growth of both women and babies.

There are things you can’t eat during confinement!

1. Pregnant women should not eat all the eggs within a few hours after giving birth. If pregnant women eat too much eggs right after giving birth, they will not be able to digest them, which will increase the burden on the stomach. Therefore, pregnant women should eat semi-liquid or liquid food within a few hours after giving birth.

2. Do not eat cold foods. Cold foods can easily affect the blood circulation of the human body and cause body aches.

3. Do not consume stimulating drinks. Strong tea, freshly ground coffee and ethanol will affect sleep quality and gastrointestinal function.

4. Do not eat spicy food or fried high-calorie food: spicy food, hot food, fried food, greasy food, sticky food that is difficult to digest.

5. Do not eat sour astringent foods. Postpartum women with blood accumulation and internal resistance are not suitable for eating sour astringent foods, such as dried black plums, lotus seeds, persimmon cakes, winter melon, etc., to avoid obstruction of blood circulation and detrimental discharge of lochia after delivery.

6. Do not eat solid, indigestible food, as this will increase the burden on the mother after giving birth.

7. Do not eat foods that affect milk secretion, such as malted milk.

8. You should not eat too much chicken essence. In order to prevent the baby from suffering from calcium deficiency, new mothers should avoid eating too much chicken essence.

9. You do not need to take nourishing and blood-activating Chinese medicine, such as ginseng, Codonopsis pilosula, Scutellaria baicalensis, rose, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Achyranthes bidentata, frankincense, myrrh, etc., within one to half a month after giving birth.
