Will girls grow taller after puberty?

Height is determined by multiple factors, of which genetic factors account for 70%, and the remaining 30% is determined by exercise, nutrition, environment and social factors. Whether a person can grow taller depends mainly on bone age, that is, whether the epiphyseal line is closed. If the epiphyseal line is not closed, the person can still grow taller. If the epiphyseal line is closed, the person will generally not grow taller. There is currently no treatment drug that can help improve it, even the use of growth hormone has no effect.

Whether or not adolescents grow taller has nothing to do with growth and development, but is related to bone age measurement. Whether the epiphyseal line is closed determines whether they can grow taller.

Can a girl still grow taller after her puberty period? Girls generally enter puberty at around ten years old, which is characterized by rapid growth in height and the development of secondary sexual characteristics. Generally speaking, height growth starts earlier than breast development, and most of the time it reaches its peak rate when the breast tissue expands to the area around the nipple. At this time, the average height increases by 8 cm per year, and even reaches 10-13 cm; at the same time, the weight also increases by 5-6 kg, and as much as 10 kg.

From then on, the growth rate begins to slow down. Girls still have the potential to continue to grow after menarche, but the growth rate is limited, usually only 3-5 cm per year. From rapid growth to basic cessation of growth and development, the standard increase in height for girls is about 25 cm. Of course, some girls have slow puberty due to factors such as late menarche or malnutrition. When they are 15 or 16 years old, they are much shorter than girls of the same age. Some are even 10 cm shorter and look very childish.

If parents do not take their children's short height seriously at this time, thinking it is not a problem and allowing it to develop freely, then after the age of 18, the growth of girls has basically stopped, and it will be very difficult to treat them if they are found to be very short at this time.
