How to read the gynecological secretion examination report

Female secretions are what we usually call secretions. Secretions are a compound composed of cervical gland secretions, vaginal mucosal exudate, vaginal epithelial cells, uterine wall gland secretions, white blood cells and non-highly pathogenic bacteria. So how do you read the gynecological secretion examination report?

The quantity and quality of female secretions are related to the menstrual cycle. After the menstrual period, the amount of female secretions is less, and the secretions are viscous and milky white. Before a girl ovulates, her secretion will increase and appear like transparent egg white. 2 to 3 days after ovulation, the amount of secretions will decrease and become thicker. Before and after the menstrual period, there will be more leucorrhea. If the secretion does not match the above situation, it is considered abnormal leucorrhea.

Abnormal leucorrhea poses many safety risks to women's reproductive health. If you find that your leucorrhea is abnormal for more than a week, it is best to go to the hospital to find out the cause. Generally speaking, abnormal leucorrhea is caused by ovarian imbalance or reduction and low estrogen levels. It is more common in women with frequent miscarriages, long breastfeeding, and various chronic diseases. After entering menopause, the uterus and ovaries gradually shrink and lose their function, which can also cause abnormal leucorrhea. Therefore, it is best to check it in time to avoid delaying the disease.

Generally speaking, healthy female secretions are milky white, and sometimes they are translucent, colorless and odorless. Other manifestations can be regarded as abnormal leucorrhea in some sense, such as a colorless, transparent, thick substance that is slightly turbid and similar to egg white, or a yellowish thick substance, or blood in the discharge, and a fishy or even foul smell. If women find these abnormal manifestations, please go to the hospital for a routine leucorrhea examination as soon as possible.

Routine examination of leucorrhea mainly involves five items: leucorrhea cleanliness, vaginal pH, vaginal microbial species, amine test, and Gardnerella. The doctor only needs to collect some secretions from the woman's vagina and then perform the above five tests during the whole process. Women are not likely to feel pain or discomfort, so they don't need to have any psychological burden and can maintain a positive attitude to face the routine examination of leucorrhea.
