Why is the chest-knee position not recommended?

The knee-chest position is a method used to adjust the fetal transverse position. This method is very safe and effective. Generally, during a prenatal check-up, if the doctor finds that the fetal position of the pregnant woman is skewed, he will immediately use this method to adjust it. However, when doing the chest-knee position, there are some things you need to pay attention to, otherwise some bad conditions will occur.

Why is the chest-knee position not recommended?

If the fetus is found in a transverse position after 28 weeks of pregnancy, and if the umbilical cord is not wrapped around the neck and the amniotic fluid flow is normal, the fetal position can be corrected by chest-knee position. If the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck and the fetal position is changed from chest-knee position to chest-knee position, the umbilical cord may stretch, causing fetal intrauterine hypoxia or even intrauterine fetal death. Another reason why the chest-knee position is not recommended is that after 32 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus is relatively large and the space for rotation in the uterus is reduced. The chest-knee position will cause the fetus to be squeezed and may also cause fetal intrauterine hypoxia or even fetal death in the uterine cavity.

What should I pay attention to when doing knee-chest position?

1. When correcting the fetal position, it must be done under the guidance of a doctor. You cannot arbitrarily increase the time and frequency of this position. Adjusting the fetal position of the fetus may also harm the physical and mental health of the pregnant woman and the fetus.

2. After a period of fetal correction, you must go to the hospital for examination and pay attention to changes in the fetal position. Pregnant women who are more than 34 weeks pregnant should not use this method to correct the fetal position, as it will harm the body of the fetus and the pregnant woman.

3. When correcting the fetal position, a nanny or a relative must be present. In the event of an accident or discomfort, many people can immediately assist the pregnant woman. Prevent accidents to pregnant women, which may threaten the lives of the fetus and the pregnant woman.

4. Pregnant women should always maintain a happy mood. The transverse position of the fetus will not necessarily affect the physical and mental health of the fetus. When a pregnant woman is giving birth, she must maintain a positive and cheerful attitude. If natural childbirth is not possible, you can choose other delivery methods and still give birth to a healthy child.
