Can pregnancy be detected without first-morning urine?

Can pregnancy be detected without first-morning urine?

It is difficult for many women to detect pregnancy in the early stages without examination. Of course, there are many ways to test pregnancy clinically. In the early stages, most people self-test using pregnancy test sticks or pregnancy test strips. Many people test their morning urine when they do self-tests, while others do not test their morning urine. This situation may also affect pregnancy testing. So, is it possible to detect pregnancy without using morning urine?

1. Due to the improvement of pregnancy test paper technology, pregnancy can be detected without using morning urine. However, in clinical practice, the HCG value contained in morning urine will be higher, especially when you have just become pregnant, so it is recommended to use morning urine for testing. In addition, do not drink too much water 2 hours before the urine test to avoid diluting the urine and causing a false clinical result (-). If the urine test results show two identical red lines, it indicates pregnancy. If there is only one red line, it means you are not pregnant. If there are two red lines, one dark and one light, it means you may be pregnant. It is recommended to do another test after 3 days.

2. Even urine other than morning urine can be used to detect pregnancy. Whether you are pregnant is mainly determined by urine testing, which uses early pregnancy test strips or pregnancy test sticks to detect human chorionic gonadotropin in urine. The test results of early pregnancy test strips can generally be divided into negative and positive (positive test results are further divided into weak positive and strong positive). A negative test result means that you are not pregnant, and a positive or strongly positive test result means that the possibility of pregnancy is relatively high. Early pregnancy test results may have false negatives and false positives.

3. Since morning urine is relatively concentrated and the hormone level is relatively high, the test results are more accurate. However, as long as you do not drink a lot of water and do not take diuretics, your urine for 24 hours a day can be used to detect early pregnancy. If you are pregnant, it will show two bars, which is positive; if you are not pregnant, it will show one bar, which is negative. However, if the pregnancy is relatively short, it is possible that it cannot be detected. Therefore, it is recommended to do an early pregnancy test 5 to 7 days after the menstruation is delayed, which is more accurate.
