Left ventricular echogenic spots are more common in boys

The left atrial strong echo point is actually the echo enhancement of the fetal atrial papillary muscle, which has a similar intensity to the bone echo and may occur on one side or unilaterally. In ultrasound examinations during pregnancy, strong echo points in the left atrium of the fetus are very common, with a detection rate of 2% to 5% in normal pregnant women. Most of the obvious echo points will decrease with the increase of pregnancy weeks, and the echo intensity will also weaken. So, how come there is a strong echo point in the left atrium?

At present, the cause of the strong echo point in the fetal left atrium has not been fully identified, but it may be related to the following factors: fetal chromosomal abnormalities, inflammation, thickening, and enlargement of the nipple tendon; incomplete rupture of the nipple tendon chord, etc. However, it may also be a normal condition and requires specific identification.

Most of the fetuses with chromosomal abnormalities are born with idiocy, and the obvious echo points caused by other factors will gradually disappear with the passage of time. The presence of obvious echoes in the fetus' heart does not mean that the fetus' heart will have physical or mental health problems. It is just a soft indicator of ultrasound examination. As mentioned above, its cause is still unclear, so the doctor needs to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the pregnant mother's age, blood cell examination, drug use, previous ultrasound examinations, etc.

Studies have shown that among people at low risk of chromosomal abnormalities, abnormal indicators of strong echogenic points in the heart are basically a normal physiological manifestation and there is no need to worry too much. If it is a typical obvious heart echo or a pregnant mother with concerns, a more precise ultrasound examination of the fetus can be performed. At present, the most recommended method is the minimally invasive DNA test, because the probability of chromosomal abnormalities actually causing the obvious heart echo in the fetus is actually very low, but the test accuracy is 98%~100%, which can basically eliminate your doubts.

Therefore, if the color Doppler ultrasound shows that the fetal heart has obvious echoes, the relatives should calm down first. Don't be discouraged or faint, and cooperate with the doctor's examination. In fact, if only this one abnormality is found during the examination and other tests are normal, expectant mothers do not need to worry too much. This is a normal situation. If there are other abnormalities, further screening can be done to distinguish.

Left atrium strong echo point boys are more likely

Strong left atrial echo has nothing to do with men and women. Although the mechanism of formation of strong echogenic points in the atrium is not completely clear, there are currently several explanations: strong echogenic reflection surfaces formed by thickening of the chordae tendineae in the atrium, mineral accumulation in the center of the papillary muscle, early ischemic changes in the coronary artery terminal nerve branches in the papillary muscle, or incomplete rupture of the papillary chordae tendineae. This rupture may be a genetic mutation in the normal development of the atrium and ventricle. With the increase of pregnancy months, most of the strong echogenic points gradually become blurred, smaller, or even disappear. The sex of the fetus is determined by the chromosome composition.

In human somatic cells, there are 23 pairs, or 46 sex chromosomes, of which 22 pairs are autosomes and 1 pair are chromosomes. Women's chromosomes are XX, while men's chromosomes are XY. When a sperm carrying an X chromosome fuses with an egg, the result is a girl; and when a sperm carrying a Y chromosome fuses with an egg, the result is a boy. Therefore, fetal sex identification is only related to sex chromosomes.
