What causes anal itching in women?

Anal itching in women is generally caused by eczema. Eczema is caused by moisture in the anus, which can lead to bacterial growth in the anus and stimulate the contraction of the anus, so women should pay attention to anal hygiene. Anal itching in women may also be a symptom of genital warts, which is a relatively serious sexual disease that spreads relatively quickly. Women need to receive timely drug treatment, otherwise it will affect their lifespan.

Causes of anal itching in women

1. Anorectal diseases: such as anal fissure, anal fistula, hemorrhoids, anal sinusitis, anal papillitis, rectal prolapse, anal incontinence, etc., which increase the secretions from the anus and irritate the skin with moisture, causing itching.

2. Anal skin diseases: such as anal eczema, neurodermatitis, ringworm, various warts, sexually transmitted diseases, sweat glanditis, etc. Feces adhere to the anal folds, irritating the skin and causing itching.

3. Endocrine diseases: For example, the sugar content in the skin of diabetic patients increases, which stimulates the nerve endings and causes itching; the itching of skin cancer in hyperthyroidism may be related to excessive sweating, increased basal metabolic rate, and emotional tension.

4. Liver and kidney diseases: Patients with primary biliary cirrhosis or bile duct obstruction have increased bile salt levels in the blood and skin, which stimulate nerve endings and cause itching; anal itching may also occur in patients with uremia in the late stage of kidney disease.

5. Parasitic diseases: such as exuviae, ascariasis, vaginal trichomoniasis, pubic lice, scabies, etc., can all cause anal itching.

6. Allergic reaction: Eating irritating foods, such as peppers, mustard, spices, alcohol or specific protein foods, and taking certain medications, such as sulfonamide antibiotics, can all cause anal itching due to allergies.

What to do if a woman has anal itching

Don't scratch your anus if it itches

The anus is a relatively fragile part of our body and is more prone to bacterial growth. If you have anal itching, do not scratch it with your hands, as this will cause secondary infection of the local skin.

The correct way to deal with it should be

① Develop good hygiene habits, wash hands before meals, take a bath frequently, change clothes frequently, and underwear should be loose, soft and comfortable; do not use paper with chemical dyes or ink to wipe the anus.

② Keep the anal area clean and wash it with warm water after defecation or before going to bed.

③ Timely treatment of systemic and local primary lesions that may cause anal itching, such as hemorrhoids, eczema, contact dermatitis, etc.

④ Adjust your diet: The food should be light and easy to digest. Spicy and greasy foods, tobacco and alcohol should be avoided. Eat less fish, shrimp, crabs, silkworm pupae, coriander, pork head and other foods that are prone to wind and rash, and eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

⑤ You can apply anti-itch cream or hormone ointment, such as fluocinolone acetonide ointment. When the itching at night affects your sleep, you can take a tablet of phenergan or cyproheptadine orally before going to bed.

⑥Chinese medicine sitz bath: 15g of Sophora flavescens, 3g of Alum, 10g of Kochia scoparia, 10g of Lithospermum officinale, 10g of Indigo naturalis, and 10g of Chrysanthemum indicum. Add 1000 ml of water, boil it in water and remove the residue, add 15 ml of rice vinegar, take 1 dose per day, and sit in the bath for 20 minutes. Anal itching symptoms will be significantly improved

Tips for maintaining anus

The anus is used every day, and you might get hemorrhoids one day, so you must pay attention to daily maintenance.

(1) Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits; eat less spicy food; and do not change your eating habits at will. Some people do not eat staple food for several days in order to lose weight. The stool accumulates in the intestines for a long time before it can be discharged, resulting in constipation. Constipation can easily lead to hemorrhoids.

(2) Do not read while defecating, otherwise you will squat for longer and longer, especially when sitting on the toilet.

(3) Drink more water. Drinking a glass of warm water in the morning can help prevent constipation.

(4) Avoid sitting, standing or walking for long periods of time, as these will aggravate anal prolapse. If conditions permit, you can take a warm water sitz bath, do anal lifting exercises for half an hour every day, or massage the anus with your index finger after taking a bath to improve local blood circulation.
