Confinement is one month of menstruation

Whether or not you have menstruation after confinement is mainly related to the recovery of the woman's body. Some women recover quickly and usually have menstruation in one month, but when their body is poor, they will have menstruation in about two months. Confinement is the key for women to restore their figure, and it is also a way to promote milk secretion. Therefore, during confinement, women should pay attention to body conditioning methods.

If you are still breastfeeding, your period won't come?

About 25% of breastfeeding mothers will resume ovulation and menstruation 12 weeks after delivery, while most breastfeeding mothers will not fully resume ovulation until 18 weeks. Therefore, during the breastfeeding process, you are likely to welcome an "old friend". However, in the body of a breastfeeding mother, prolactin remains at a higher level than before pregnancy, and also increases in response to the baby's sucking. Therefore, the menstruation of a new breastfeeding mother generally comes later than that of a new non-breastfeeding mother.

Will the arrival of "Aunt aunt" affect the quality of breast milk?

When the "old friend" arrives, the amount of milk a breastfeeding mother produces generally decreases, and the quality of the protein and fat in the milk also changes slightly. The protein content is higher and the fat content is lower. This kind of milk can sometimes cause indigestion in the baby, but this is only a temporary phenomenon and will go away after the menstrual period. It will return to normal. Therefore, mothers do not need to stop breastfeeding whether during or after menstruation.

What is the difference between lochia and menstruation?

Normally, after giving birth, a mother will have bloody secretions flowing out of the birth canal. This bleeding from the placenta implantation site, mixed with secretions such as the decidua, tissue fragments, and mucus remaining in the uterus, is called lochia. Under normal circumstances, the lochia is abundant and red in the first 4-5 days; about one week after delivery, the amount of lochia gradually decreases and turns brown; after the 10th day, the color becomes lighter, slowly turning from yellow to white, and there is no special smell. Lochia usually disappears 4-6 weeks after delivery. The lochia of women who undergo cesarean section lasts longer than that of women who undergo normal delivery. If the brown lochia continues for more than a few days after delivery, the patient should still go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Normally, lochia does not exceed the amount of menstruation. If it exceeds the amount of menstruation or there are blood clots, or the vaginal discharge appears as rotten meat-like tissue or has a corrupt odor, you should seek medical attention immediately.

If you are a breastfeeding mother, the best contraceptive method is to use condoms. As for other products such as cervical cap, vaginal membrane, vaginal sponge, etc., they are not suitable for use within two months after delivery. The IUD can be inserted 3 months after a normal delivery and 6 months after a cesarean section. The estrogen in contraceptives can reduce milk secretion and lower its quality. It can also enter the breast milk and have adverse effects on newborns. Therefore, new mothers who are breastfeeding should not use short-acting oral contraceptives.
