Breast pain from breast pump

Breast pain from breast pump

Breastfeeding is actually a very difficult process for mothers, because during the breastfeeding period, mothers have to face various problems. Among them, breast engorgement is a problem that most mothers will face. During the process of breast engorgement, some pregnant women will use a breast pump to relieve the symptoms of breast pain. But breast pumps are not a panacea. Many pregnant women feel breast pain when using breast pumps. What should they do?

When using a breast pump to express milk, if nipple pain occurs, you should let your breasts rest in time and do not continue breastfeeding or using a breast pump to express milk. You can apply heat to relieve pain and speed up the healing of your nipples.

The reason why many women experience pain when using a breast pump is because they use the breast pump before their breasts are unblocked. Therefore, before using a breast pump, mothers must ensure that their mammary ducts are unobstructed. To keep the mammary ducts unobstructed, they should let the baby suck promptly on the second day after delivery, so that the mammary ducts can be unobstructed in time.

The second reason why using a breast pump causes nipple pain is that the breastfeeding time is too long. Some mothers use a breast pump to breastfeed for up to half an hour, which can cause more serious nipple edema and severe pain. Therefore, mothers must pay attention to controlling the time of breast pumping. The time should not be too long, generally about 15 minutes is enough.

In order to make it easier to express milk using a breast pump, mothers should master some milk-expressing techniques, such as applying a hot towel for a while before expressing milk, and staying in a warm and relaxed state when expressing milk.
