Can I run if I have a prolapsed uterus?

The uterus is a particularly important organ in the female reproductive system. However, as a suspended organ in the body, there are actually certain ligaments and muscles between the uterus and the body to maintain the suspension of the uterus. However, if a person is older or has long-term constipation problems, which leads to increased abdominal pressure, it may cause uterine prolapse. If a woman has a prolapsed uterus, can she exercise by running?

What are the causes of uterine prolapse?

First, natural aging. As women age, their ovarian function deteriorates, the female hormone estrogen decreases, and the organs themselves age, resulting in poor tone of the pelvic floor muscles and degeneration and atrophy of the uterine ligaments, which in turn causes uterine prolapse. This condition is experienced by every woman and should be treated correctly.

Second, abdominal pressure is too high for a long time. Habitual constipation, frequent and excessive physical activity, long-term overload exercise, or always doing exercise with improper force, etc., will lead to increased pressure in the abdomen, which will cause uterine prolapse over time.

Third, malnutrition or obesity. Women who eat too much and become obese, or who go on a diet and are very picky about food, which leads to malnutrition, will suffer from poor tone of the pelvic floor muscles, degeneration and atrophy of the uterine ligaments, and thus lose their supporting function, causing uterine prolapse.

Can I run if I have a prolapsed uterus?

Uterine prolapse is also called uterine prolapse. The inner wall of the uterus cannot contract and recover well, and it sags into the vagina. In severe cases, it may extend outside the body. The common symptoms of uterine prolapse include at least a feeling of falling (the feeling that something is about to fall out of the lower abdomen), usually back pain, and in severe cases, it can affect the bladder and rectum, causing frequent urination, incomplete urination, or constipation. Mild uterine prolapse generally does not cause symptoms and does not require treatment. For those who have subjective symptoms but are not suitable for surgery due to other chronic diseases, a pessary can be placed to relieve symptoms. It is recommended to strengthen nutrition, get adequate rest, pay attention to the combination of work and rest, and keep bowel movements smooth. Avoid compressing the lower abdomen to increase abdominal pressure and heavy physical labor. Insist on doing anal lifting exercises every day, lying on the knees and chest, twice a day, each time for 10 minutes. You can do some exercise, but not too much, and avoid strenuous (ultra-endurance) exercise.

Generally speaking, there are many reasons for uterine prolapse. If uterine prolapse occurs, it is okay to do some appropriate exercise, and some exercises can alleviate this phenomenon. Women with uterine prolapse can jog, but they must control the intensity. Fast jogging is not recommended, as it is very dangerous. Uterine prolapse can seriously affect our fertility.
