High cytomegalovirus IgG in pregnant women

Some hospitals will conduct four eugenics tests on pregnant women during pregnancy, one of which is rubella virus antigen. Rubella virus antigen is divided into two types, one is IgG and the other is igm.

The positive and negative results of these two antigens usually represent the status of rubella virus infection in the body. If the rubella virus IgG antigen is high, the status of the igm antigen should be considered. If the igm antibody is negative, it is generally considered that the person has been infected in the past and now has immunity.

If the IgG antigen is high and combined with igm antibodies, this situation should be taken seriously, because this situation indicates that there may be fetal intrauterine infection or maternal infection. Because the four eugenics tests are only a screening test, further diagnosis is necessary.

Common diagnostic methods include the following aspects. The first aspect is to retest the four items of eugenics after 4 to 6 weeks, and judge the infection status of the body based on the changes in the titers of the two antibodies.

The second method is to determine whether it is a recent infection or a new infection by checking the infectivity of the antigen.

The third level is to determine whether the fetus has intrauterine infection by performing B-ultrasound and combined amniocentesis.

Therefore, for pregnant women with high rubella virus IgG antigen, targeted diagnostic tests must be carried out, and it is not possible to simply determine whether there is infection based on this single indicator.
