How to scientifically practice confinement in winter?

Confinement refers to the period of recuperation and recovery after childbirth. During this period, a woman needs to pay close attention to her diet and sleep, especially in winter. Since women's bodies are easily injured after giving birth, she needs to prepare comfortable pajamas and soft beds at this time, but she does not need a too thick quilt. She should pay more attention to the resting environment and keep it as hygienic and clean as possible. She can eat more light and nutritious foods.

How to scientifically take care of your baby in winter

1. New mothers' clothes should be loose and comfortable

The weather is cold during the winter confinement period, and new mothers are more likely to feel cold when breastfeeding or taking care of their babies. Since some of the fluid accumulated in the body during pregnancy needs to be discharged and you sweat a lot, sweat stains and dirt will stain your clothes, so you should take a bath frequently and wash and change your underwear frequently to keep your skin clean. Doudou's mother gave the following suggestions to new mothers on clothing:

1. Clothes and pants should be loose, soft and comfortable long-sleeved cotton or woolen fabrics. Underwear should be changed frequently or disposable. Of course, be careful to choose pure cotton ones with a higher sterilization level to ensure that there is no infection during the perinatal period. In order to maintain a happy mood and provide good stimulation to the baby's visual development, you can also choose some brightly colored and lively home clothes.

2. The hair is greasy after childbirth. If there is dirt, it may cause bacterial infection. Modern doctors recommend washing your hair and taking a bath after childbirth. Of course, you should avoid catching a cold. You can choose a postpartum rinse-free shampoo cap.

3. Because the pores are open after childbirth and it is easy to sweat, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is large in winter, you should pay attention to adding or removing clothes to prevent colds, and change wet clothes in time. When hanging laundry, it is best to expose it to the sun to achieve a sterilization effect.

4. To prevent infection and allergies, avoid using synthetic underwear.

5. "Cold originates from the soles of the feet" and the kidney meridian is located at the base of the feet, so it is advisable to wear cotton socks and thick-soled soft shoes. Prepare a nightgown by the bed and put it on in time when you get up in the middle of the night to feed the baby to avoid catching a cold.

6. You can wear slimming underwear and postpartum tights to help the uterus recover and slim down after delivery. Wearing a pair of extended, high-waisted trousers can cover the entire abdomen and protect the navel.

2. Keep the indoor environment warm, moist and fresh in winter

The key to "confinement" in winter is to keep warm. The indoor temperature should be between 20℃ and 25℃, and should avoid sudden changes in temperature. In the south where there is no heating, air conditioning and electric heaters can be used to maintain the indoor temperature; while for the north with a dry climate, it is also very important to maintain appropriate indoor humidity. Generally speaking, the indoor humidity should be between 55% and 65%. A more convenient way to increase humidity is to buy a humidifier. It would be even better if it also has a sterilization function. You can also put a basin of water in the room, sprinkle some water on the ground, or mop the floor with a wet mop several times a day to increase the humidity (but with the latter two methods, be careful not to let the mother slip when getting out of bed). In order to know the indoor humidity conditions at any time, you can buy a hygrometer.

In addition to maintaining appropriate temperature and humidity, the indoor air must also be kept fresh. Make sure to open the windows for ventilation twice a day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon), each time for 15 to 20 minutes. When changing the air, move the new mother and baby to another room first. After ventilation, wait until the room returns to a suitable temperature before letting the new mother and baby come back.

It is best if the room where the new mother and baby are located has sufficient sunlight, which will make the new mother feel happy and help observe some changes in the baby. In addition, there should not be too many potted flowers indoors. Because when the light is moderate, indoor green plants are like a natural oxygen bar; when the light is insufficient, the plants inhale oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
