Dangerous period and safe period

Dangerous period and safe period

Girls often see the words "safe period" and "dangerous period" when they are pregnant, but they can never figure out what the real meaning is. Sometimes an unexpected pregnancy occurs during the safe period, which makes people very puzzled. In fact, not all menstruation is a safe period. For many people, the menstruation has just ended, or the menstruation period may also be a dangerous period. So how should the dangerous period and safe period be planned and classified? Let us find out below?

The "safe period" and "dangerous period" refer to the time interval during the menstrual cycle when the egg meets the sperm to become a fertilized egg and conception. This time interval is called the "dangerous period", and the opposite time period is called the "safe period". Since the egg can be fertilized within two or three days after being released, and the sperm can survive for three or four days after being released and can enter the egg, if the ovulation day (usually 14 days before menstruation) is taken as the base, the first four days and the last five days are the dangerous period, and the rest are the safe period.

Safe period

The safe period corresponds to the fertile period. The first step in conception is the combination of sperm and egg to form a fertilized egg.

A woman usually releases only one egg during one menstrual cycle, and the egg's ability to conceive (i.e. survival) is only 24-48 hours after it is released from the ovary (waiting for fertilization in the fallopian tube). The lifespan of sperm in the female reproductive tract is about 2-3 days, so conception is possible if sexual intercourse is performed 2-3 days before ovulation and 1-2 days after ovulation. This period is called the fertile period, also called the "dangerous period" or the conception period.

Ovarian ovulation usually occurs within 2 days before or after the 14th day of menstruation (the specific ovulation period is calculated according to the menstrual cycle), and the ovulation day is usually the few days in the middle of the two menstrual periods. It is impossible to conceive during the period when ovulation does not occur. When ovulation occurs, fertilization can only occur when it encounters sperm.

Dangerous period

The dangerous period is the fertile period (ovulation period), which is a few days before and after the ovulation day. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, the ovulation period. It is easier to get pregnant if you have sexual intercourse during the ovulation period. The dangerous period only refers to contraception. If you plan to have a child, you must arrange sexual intercourse during this period.

The egg's ability to conceive is only 24 hours at most after ovulation, while the lifespan of sperm is about 3-4 days. Ovulation can sometimes occur a few days earlier or later, so the dangerous period should be extended by a few days, which is "five or six days before ovulation to two or three days after ovulation." Ovulation usually occurs between two menstrual periods.

If menstruation comes every 28-30 days, then the ovulation day is around the 14th to 16th day of menstruation. In this way, you can roughly calculate the dangerous period (i.e. conception period, ovulation period)

In addition, there is a universal and simple quick calculation method: "the longest menstrual cycle minus 11, the shortest cycle minus 18", and the dangerous period is in between. For example, if menstruation comes every 28-30 days, 30-11=19, 28-18=10, the dangerous period is from the 11th to the 19th day of menstruation.
