What is clitoral atrophy?

When a woman's immune system becomes worse and worse, she is particularly susceptible to some gynecological diseases, and she will also develop some gynecological diseases. When a woman begins to experience vaginal atrophy, the estrogen in her body will decrease rapidly. At this time, some of her female characteristics may also slowly atrophy. So what is the cause of vaginal atrophy?

Decreased estrogen levels

Usually, if the phenomenon of clitoral atrophy is primary, it is common in elderly women. This is mainly because after menopause, their ovarian function declines and the level of estrogen secretion decreases. Under the influence of these factors, women's target organs also atrophy. This is a normal physiological change and does not require treatment. However, some women experience clitoral atrophy, which is caused by inflammatory infection.

White lesions of the vulva

White lesions of the vulva are usually caused by vulvar malnutrition, leading to the occurrence of hyperplastic, lichen sclerosus and mixed lesions. Especially for the lichen sclerosus type lesions, if they last for a long time, the elasticity of the dermis tissue of women will disappear under the influence of inflammatory lesions, which will lead to clitoral atrophy. Lichen planus, a disease caused by chronic stimulation such as leucorrhea and scratching, is often complicated by severe clitoral atrophy in clinical observation.

Vulvar atrophy is often caused by vulvar leukoplakia. The lesions are white patches, and the skin becomes thinner and shiny to varying degrees. Typically, the lesions resemble cigarette paper. The distribution of lesions is confluent in many cases and scattered in a few. In severe cases, the clitoris shrinks and disappears, the foreskin tightens, the skin wrinkles become flat, and the vaginal opening forms a narrow slit.

In the early stages of vulvar atrophy, there may be no symptoms or only mild itching, and symptoms of dyspareunia appear earlier. Accompanied by tingling and itching. Local symptoms: In the early stage, the vulva will slightly atrophy and become lighter and whiter, sometimes the labia majora and labia minora will become lighter and whiter, and the vulva may also become generally white, affecting the labia minora, clitoris, clitoral frenulum and anus. In the middle stage, the skin of the affected area may turn white and become more severe due to excessive keratinization, the skin may become dry, chapped, and inelastic, the labia minora may become thinner, atrophied, and disappear, and the clitoris may atrophy and become adhered. In the late stage, the vulva atrophies significantly.
