Is it normal to have excessive discharge during menopause?

When female friends enter menopause, their ovarian function actually declines and their estrogen levels decrease. If the body's secretions increase at this time, they should undergo appropriate examinations in a timely manner to see if other diseases are causing the abnormality.

When a woman enters menopause, it means that her ovarian function declines and estrogen secretion decreases significantly, so vaginal secretions will be significantly reduced. If there is yellow discharge with an odor, and you suspect it is senile vaginitis, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a leucorrhea test.

Symptoms of menopause in women

Most women enter menopause at the age of 45-55, when ovulation and menstruation stop and they lose their reproductive ability. This is mainly because the ovarian function declines and even disappears.

The symptoms of menopause, before menopause, are mainly menstrual changes:

Changes in menstrual rhythm: The cycle is prolonged, the intervals between menstruation are extended, or there is no menstrual period for two or three months, but it returns to its natural pattern after a few months. This alternation of amenorrhea and regular menstruation can last for one or two years. Some women have shorter periods and too many periods during a period of time.

Changes in the appearance of menstrual blood: The color of the blood becomes lighter, pink, or even black, mixed with small blood clots and fiber fragments. The amount of menstrual blood also changes. For some women, the amount of menstrual blood gradually decreases, but there is no increased or heavy bleeding. The length of the menstrual period also varies. Some women gradually get shorter, while for other women, the menstrual period is prolonged and can last up to 10 days.

After menopause, about 10-20% of women will experience some symptoms, mainly:

The face becomes flushed and hot, starting from the lower part and spreading upward to the entire face. There is often significant vascular dilation, redness, and sweating all over the face. At the same time, dizziness and vertigo may occur, and the degree of flushing varies. Sometimes it is limited to the face and neck, but it may also be frequent and severe.

Autonomic nervous system disorders, numbness of the limbs, abnormal sensations and cramps in the extremities especially at night, heaviness in the lower limbs, as if the legs don't know where to put, pain in the lower abdomen, palpitations, pain in the precordial area, headaches, dizziness, insomnia and syncope; often irritable, emotionally unstable, prone to temper, and sometimes suspicious and depressed.

When you reach menopause, you may experience some discomfort. This is an inevitable physiological process. Don't worry. These discomforts are only temporary and will soon pass. You must be mentally prepared to enter the work and life of old age with a calm and determined mood. Sometimes medications are given.

Appropriate use of medication: Estrogen is often effective when facial flushing, personality changes, irritability, pain, and osteoporosis occur. For example, take 0.5 to 5 mg of hexane estradiol every day, or take 20 to 30 micrograms of estradiol every day. The specific usage of the above two drugs: take the medicine for 20 days and stop for 10 days, or take the medicine for 3 days and stop for 4 days; or take the medicine for 6 days and stop for 1 day.

Pay attention to the side effects of medication and undergo a full body and gynecological examination before taking the medication. Regular check-ups are required after taking the medication, because estrogen can aggravate diabetes and hyperlipidemia, and can also promote the development of uterine fibroids.

Diseases common during menopause

1. Temporary joint stiffness and pain. This is joint pain caused by vasoconstriction, and it can be treated with estrogen, with good results.

2. Lower back pain, sciatica, or neck and back pain. It is caused by osteoporosis or muscle relaxation and obesity that occurs after menopause, and sometimes results in flat feet, genu valgum, varicose veins, etc.

3. Osteoporosis. It usually occurs within 10 years after menopause, and its main characteristics are back pain and wedging of the spine, causing hunchback, shortening, and susceptibility to fractures.

4. Menopausal hypertension is a manifestation of autonomic nervous system disorder, which is usually benign. Systolic blood pressure increases, but there are no obvious changes in the heart and fundus. Blood pressure is unstable and can be effectively treated with sedatives and hormones. Blood pressure may naturally return to normal at the end of menopause.

5. Atherosclerosis. The incidence of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease increases in postmenopausal women and women who have had bilateral oophorectomy, but it is not certain whether estrogen can prevent and treat atherosclerosis.

6. Hyperthyroidism.

7. Fatness in the abdomen and proximal limbs, excessive hair growth, changes in voice and personality.

8. Obesity in postmenopausal women may be caused by two reasons: increased diet and decreased metabolism. Controlling diet has better results.
