Can I eat crabs when I am seven months pregnant?

When you are seven months pregnant, you should pay more attention to your daily diet. The food you consume must be able to nourish your body and be beneficial to production. You must not eat anything that may harm your body and the fetus in your womb. Foods like crabs can cause miscarriage, so it is best not to eat this kind of food during the entire pregnancy.

Studies have found that the infection rate and degree of lung fluke - the larval metacercariae of the long-legged crab are very high. Lung fluke parasitizes in the lungs, irritating or destroying lung tissue, causing coughing and even hemoptysis. If it invades the brain, it will cause paralysis. According to experts, if crabs are eaten after being slightly heated, the infection rate of lung fluke is 20%. If they are eaten pickled crabs or drunken crabs, the infection rate of lung fluke is as high as 55%. If crabs are eaten raw, the infection rate of lung fluke is as high as 71%.

The metacercariae of Paragonimiasis are very resistant and generally need to be soaked in 55°C water for 30 minutes or pickled in 20% salt water for 48 hours to be killed. Eating crabs raw may also cause infection with Vibrio parahaemolyticus. If a large number of Vibrio parahaemolyticus invade the human body, it will cause infectious poisoning, showing symptoms such as intestinal inflammation, edema, and congestion.

Pregnant women cannot eat crabs, and should not eat crabs during the entire pregnancy period.
