Large and frequent menstrual blood clots

Large and frequent menstrual blood clots

When you have your period, as long as the color of your period is normal and there is no odor, it is normal for tiny blood clots to appear occasionally. This is because the menstrual fluid contains fragments of the uterine wall that have fallen off, or blood clots that have not been discharged in time. Let’s take a look at it in practice below!

Are large and frequent menstrual blood clots normal?

When you have your period, as long as the color of your period is normal and there is no odor, it is normal for tiny blood clots to appear occasionally. This is because the menstrual fluid contains fallen uterine wall fragments (in the form of rotten meat) or blood clots (darker red) that are not discharged in time.

If the blood clots are large and numerous, it may be abnormal and the following reasons should be considered.

Large blood clots during menstruation are mostly caused by uterine cold and blood stasis

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that excessive menstrual blood clots are related to uterine cold, qi deficiency and blood stasis. If the menstrual flow is not smooth and the blood stays in the body for too long, it will be over-oxidized, causing the color to turn dark, blood clots to coagulate, and paroxysmal menstrual pain will occur when it is discharged.

Excessive menstrual flow

If the menstrual flow is heavy and cannot be discharged in time, part of the blood will coagulate together and be discharged, and large blood clots will be formed. In the case of light menstrual flow, the blood clots will naturally disappear.

Possibly miscarriage

If you have had sex recently and your period is delayed, and then you suddenly have vaginal bleeding with walnut-sized blood clots in your blood, you should also consider the discharge of gestational sac tissue caused by miscarriage. In this case, bleeding usually does not exceed the menstrual period and is accompanied by lower abdominal pain, which requires medical treatment.

Gynecological diseases caused

Uterine fibroids, uterine intrauterine polyps, etc. may all cause irregular menstruation, heavy menstrual flow and the presence of many blood clots. Moreover, menstrual blood clots caused by gynecological diseases are mostly accompanied by abnormal leucorrhea, pain during sexual intercourse or bleeding during sexual intercourse, and medical treatment should be sought in time.

How to treat large and frequent menstrual blood clots

During the menstrual period, women should adjust their health, avoid eating too much spicy food or hot and damp food, and avoid overwork or excessive exercise to prevent excessive menstrual flow.

Suitable for cold and warm

According to the climate and environment, you should adjust your clothes appropriately. Don't wear too cold clothes to avoid causing cold wind, damaging Qi and blood, and affecting normal menstruation.

Control your diet

It is not suitable to overeat or drink too much, or eat high-fat, greasy food, raw and cold food, spicy food, and dry food to prevent damage to the stomach and intestines, resulting in biochemical insufficiency, or accumulation of moisture to produce phlegm or dispersion of blood, burning blood, and causing irregular menstruation.
