What are the steps for getting on the ring?

Female friends all know that IUD insertion can have a contraceptive effect, but I believe many female friends do not know what the steps are and what the surgical process is like. The process of IUD insertion is to place the metal contraceptive ring into the uterus. It needs to be dilated and disinfected before the contraceptive ring can be inserted. The specific steps of IUD insertion can be found in the following content.

What is the ringing process like?

1. Lithotomy position, then disinfect the vulva and vagina according to the routine method, and lay a sterile towel.

2. Before inserting the IUD, relevant IUD examinations are also essential, mainly to check whether there are any abnormalities in the size, position, inclination and appendages of the vagina and uterus.

3. Use a vaginal speculum to dilate the vagina, expose the cervix, wipe off cervical secretions, and disinfect the cervix and cervical canal with disinfectant.

4. The next step is what we can also see in the video of the whole process of women having an IUD inserted, which is to accurately measure the depth and width of the uterine cavity. Support the cervical forceps with your left hand and hold the uterine probe with your right hand. Gently probe into the uterine cavity along the direction of the uterus until it reaches the uterine fundus, measure the depth of the uterine cavity, and gently swing it to both sides to estimate the width of the uterine cavity.

5. The model of the IUD needs to be selected according to the size of the female uterine cavity.

6. The last step is the main operation of IUD insertion, which is also the most important part of the whole process. The specific method is: place the selected contraceptive device on the placement device (IUD fork or IUD forceps), and gently send it into the uterine cavity along the direction of the uterine cavity until it reaches the fundus of the uterus. When passing through the internal os of the uterus, the placement device is slightly flattened and aligned with the longitudinal axis of the uterine cavity to prevent the contraceptive device from twisting in the uterus. After placing the IUD at the fundus of the uterus, withdraw the placement device.

Things to note after having an IUD inserted

The IUD is a commonly used contraceptive method among women in my country. According to relevant statistics, more than 60 percent of women use this contraceptive method, also known as the intrauterine device. So, what are the precautions for women after having an IUD inserted?

1. There may be a small amount of vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal discomfort after insertion, which will mostly disappear on their own; the main complication of intrauterine contraceptive ring placement is bleeding. The main symptoms are excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, irregular menstrual bleeding, etc. Generally speaking, there will always be a small amount of bleeding after the ring is placed, but it will not exceed one week. If the bleeding lasts for more than a week, or the amount of bleeding is as much as menstrual flow, it is an abnormal reaction. If there is heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, or fever, you should go to a medical institution for diagnosis and treatment;

2. Do not do heavy physical labor within a week; rest in bed within three days. Exerting too much can cause bleeding and inflammation.

3. Bathing and sexual intercourse are prohibited within half a month after the operation.

4. Within 3 months after placement, pay attention to less activity and avoid heavy physical activities, including walking around for a long time, sitting or standing for a long time, etc. If the menstrual flow is likely to increase, you should pay attention to whether the contraceptive device falls off during menstruation. Do not have sex or take a bath in a tub if there is vaginal bleeding.

5. If any of the following situations occur, go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately: severe abdominal pain, fever, pelvic pain, increased vaginal discharge; menstruation has not stopped or there is a possibility of pregnancy; the IUD falls off; pain during sexual intercourse; excessive bleeding or irregular bleeding or bleeding that does not stop, etc.
