What to do if you have kidney stones and back pain during pregnancy

Kidney stones can be said to be the most serious type of stone in the urinary system. After suffering from kidney stones, kidney pain and lower back pain will often occur. Therefore, patients with kidney stones should use medication as soon as possible, but some pregnant women develop kidney stones. At that time, you couldn't take any medicine randomly because it would affect the baby. But how can women relieve the back pain caused by kidney stones during pregnancy?

The fetal heart sounds are clearest on both sides of the umbilicus. B-ultrasound examination shows that the fetal head is on one side of the mother's abdomen. Folic acid supplementation can help prevent anemia during pregnancy. So, will kidney stones cause lower back pain during pregnancy?

When kidney stones move in pregnant women, they can cause lower back pain, which may be continuous or paroxysmal, with dull pain, bloating or colic. When the stone moves due to activity and becomes lodged in the ureter, the pain may radiate along the ureter to the bladder, external genitalia, inner thigh, etc.

Due to the changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in pregnant women, the enlarged uterus compresses the ureters, and progesterone causes the ureters to dilate and slow down their peristalsis, leading to urine stasis and urinary tract infection. These factors will increase the occurrence of kidney stones.

From the above content, we can know that kidney stones during pregnancy will cause low back pain. Next, we will introduce the items that need to be checked during pregnancy with kidney stones:

(1) Ultrasound examination: When the diameter of a urinary stone reaches 0.5 cm or more, a high-resolution ultrasound diagnostic device can see dense, bright spots or bright groups in the urinary tract or kidney, which is a characteristic of the presence of stones.

(ii) Cystoscopy: If the main symptoms are pain in the bladder area, sudden interruption of urine flow and hematuria, bladder stones should be considered. The diagnosis of bladder stones can be based on X-ray examination and cystoscopy.

Through the introduction of this article, I believe that all pregnant women have solved their doubts and have a deeper understanding of pregnancy. Finally, I wish all expectant mothers can give birth to healthy and lovely babies smoothly!
