Astragalus is a relatively common Chinese medicine with high efficacy and medicinal value. Many people do not have a thorough understanding of Astragalus and always think that Astragalus does not actually have much effect. However, after research, it was found that Astragalus not only has a wide range of applications, but can also be soaked in water with many medicinal materials. At the same time, Astragalus also has a very good effect on treating physical fatigue and strengthening the body.

Animals that were gavage-administered with Astragalus membranaceus gained weight quickly, their serum total protein and albumin levels increased, their swimming time was prolonged, and their urine output increased. Astragalus can also lower arterial pressure, slow heart rate, dilate coronary arteries, strengthen myocardial contractility, increase cardiac output, and prevent and treat circulatory failure. It also has a good therapeutic effect on experimental nephritis, can alleviate kidney lesions and reduce the quantitative protein in urine.

Astragalus is widely used in clinical Chinese medicine. Soaking Astragalus in water and drinking it can cure drowsiness, weakness and shortness of breath. Take appropriate amounts of Astragalus, Saposhnikovia divaricata, Atractylodes macrocephala, licorice, ginger and jujube and decoct them to prevent and treat low immune function and recurrent colds. Taking Astragalus combined with oyster, floating wheat and ephedra root can cure night sweats.

Using Astragalus combined with Atractylodes macrocephala, Stephania tetrandra, ginger and jujube can treat edema. Astragalus can be used together with Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes macrocephala, Licorice, Citrus aurantium, Cimicifuga heracleifolia and Bupleurum to treat rectal prolapse, uterine or visceral prolapse. Using Astragalus combined with tangerine peel, hemp seed and honey can treat constipation in the elderly or after childbirth, and can cure constipation when one wants to defecate but cannot. Using Astragalus with cinnamon twig, white peony root, licorice, ginger and jujube can treat abdominal cold pain as well as joint and muscle pain.

Using Astragalus with pangolin, soapberry thorn, angelica, Chuanxiong, honeysuckle, and white atractylodes can treat carbuncle with pus already formed but not breaking. Take astragalus, raw coix seed, red bean, chicken gizzard lining, tangerine peel, add glutinous rice and cook into porridge. It can be eaten to treat residual edema caused by chronic nephritis and pyelonephritis. However, it should be made clear that people with a thin and rapid pulse and a red tongue, which are considered kidney yin deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine, should not take it.
