Symptoms of Mastitis During Pregnancy

In fact, women are not only prone to mastitis during breastfeeding, but also during pregnancy, because at this time the female endocrine system and the female hormones in the body are quietly changing. Sometimes, mastitis is likely to occur when the breasts cannot resist the invasion of bacteria. Although mastitis occurs frequently, many women are still not clear about the symptoms of mastitis. So what are the symptoms of mastitis during pregnancy?

What are the symptoms of mastitis in pregnant women?

1. Initial stage

When a pregnant woman develops mastitis, she will begin to experience nipple cracks and often feel tingling in her nipples. She may also feel lumps when she touches her hands. Sometimes she may find that her milk ducts are blocked. At the same time, her breasts will have local swelling and lumps, which may be tender to the touch. Her skin will become flushed and she may also have fever symptoms. She may feel chest tightness and headaches, become very prone to temper tantrums, and have a loss of appetite.

2. Purulence stage

At this time, the patient's breast lump will not disappear but will gradually grow larger. The patient's local pain will become more severe, and there will be persistent severe pain. If you touch it with your hand, you will also have a headache, and the skin will feel burning and feverish. The patient will have nausea, vomiting and anorexia. If you touch it with your hand, you can find that the lymph nodes are enlarged. If the patient's breasts are red and swollen, after a period of time, the center of the patient's breast will slowly soften. At this time, the tenderness will be very obvious. Pus can be found during puncture and fluid extraction, and sometimes pus can flow out of the breast.

3. Post-collapse stage

Abscesses continue to harm the patient's breasts. If the condition is more serious, it may rupture on its own and discharge pus. At this time, the patient should undergo surgery to incise and drain the pus. If the drainage is smooth, the local swelling will gradually subside, and the patient's symptoms will be effectively improved. If the symptoms do not improve, the patient's condition will continue to worsen. If the damage is serious, the impact on the patient's breasts will be very large.

Treatment methods are very useful for recovery from illness, so we should trust doctors. When a woman finds that she has mastitis during pregnancy, she must understand the relevant symptoms. If it is in the early stage, effective treatment will be taken and her condition will improve quickly. If it is in the suppurative stage, it will be more difficult to treat.
