Is it normal to have blood before menstruation?

Many women experience some changes in their bodies before their period. For example, there is blood before menstruation. So, is this normal? In fact, gynecologists tell us that the presence of blood before menstruation is most likely caused by premenstrual syndrome. If it is not very serious, it will not affect your health. However, if it is serious, it is best to go to the hospital for a gynecological examination.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) refers to a series of physical and emotional discomfort symptoms experienced by women in the late menstrual cycle (luteal phase D14-D28). The symptoms are not related to mental or medical diseases, are relieved in the follicular phase, and recover to a symptom-free state after menstruation. Premenstrual syndrome is a women's disease caused by a combination of physiological and socio-psychological factors. The goal of treatment is mainly to relieve or eliminate physical and psychological symptoms, reduce the impact on personal daily life, interpersonal relationships, and quality of life, and minimize the side effects of treatment.

Women's personality traits are also important factors leading to premenstrual syndrome. When premenstrual syndrome occurs, the rate of psychological symptoms is quite high, even higher than the rate of somatic symptoms. The more conservative, quiet, withdrawn, lying, unsympathetic, hostile, overly emotional, and easily excited a person is, the more severe his or her clinical symptoms of premenstrual syndrome will be. The personality traits of emotional instability and neurosis are closely related to the occurrence of premenstrual syndrome, especially the fixed pattern of brain activity related to personality, which in turn affects the activity of the hypothalamus, affects the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian function, and changes the secretion of estrogen. Therefore, the formation of bad personality traits will affect the severity of premenstrual syndrome.

Judging from the clinical symptoms of premenstrual syndrome, the disease is one of the diseases with a higher incidence rate among women of childbearing age. Severe premenstrual syndrome: There is no consistent definition of premenstrual symptoms in severe premenstrual syndrome. The 17 symptoms are: depression, helplessness and guilt, anxiety/stress, mood swings, irritability/persistent anger, decreased interest, lack of concentration, fatigue, increased appetite, sleep disorders, lack of self-control or vulnerability, poor ability to help, headache, pain, edema/weight gain, cramps, breast tenderness) and aggravated before menstruation and alleviated or disappeared after menstruation.
