It is normal to have bleeding within 2 weeks after the fetal sac is expelled. This does not mean that the bleeding is complete. It takes more than a week to go to the hospital for a follow-up B-ultrasound to understand whether it is a complete miscarriage. If the miscarriage is complete, no uterine curettage is required.

Therefore, even if the gestational sac is expelled from the body after an abortion, a uterine curettage is not necessarily required. However, an ultrasound examination should be done one week after the abortion to see whether the gestational sac is completely expelled. If not, a uterine curettage is still required.
