Can I have sex with uterine fibroids?

Although uterine fibroids are benign tumors, they have a great impact on women's daily lives and may even become malignant. Women with uterine fibroids can have sexual intercourse, but they need to be moderate in intercourse and pay attention to many issues. If the location of the uterine fibroids is special, it is best not to have sexual intercourse to avoid serious consequences. Uterine fibroids must be treated in a timely manner.

Many patients with uterine fibroids are in the observation period because the fibroids are relatively small and they have no subjective symptoms. They only need regular gynecological examinations to observe the growth of the uterine fibroids, and the body's various functions are not affected. For these patients with uterine fibroids, they can continue to have a normal sex life with their loved ones.

If the patient's uterine fibroids are relatively large, excessive menstrual bleeding may occur, leading to anemia. These patients should strengthen their nutrition, supplement more iron, and improve their physical condition. They can resume sexual life a few days after the menstruation is over, but it should not be too intense to avoid vaginal bleeding again.

For fibroids under the uterine mucosa, sexual intercourse may cause bleeding and infection, which in turn may aggravate the bleeding, increase the amount of leucorrhea, and even cause fever and abdominal pain. Sexual intercourse can also cause submucosal fibroids to twist, causing severe abdominal pain. Therefore, it is best for such patients not to have sexual intercourse before they are cured, so as not to increase pain and aggravate the condition.

Some patients with uterine fibroids should try to avoid sexual intercourse when they are pregnant. Because patients with uterine fibroids are not easy to conceive, and once they conceive they are prone to miscarriage. Sexual intercourse can cause spasmodic contractions of the pregnant uterus and induce miscarriage.

How to take good care of uterine fibroids

1. In daily life, you should pay attention to rest, eat well, and avoid excessive fatigue, especially during the days of menstruation, you must get enough rest.

2. Pay attention to personal hygiene, especially the hygiene of the vulva. Wash the vulva with clean water during bathing and keep it clean and dry. If there is too much vaginal discharge, pay attention to flushing the vulva at any time to avoid bacterial growth and infection.

3. If you are diagnosed with uterine fibroids, you must go to the hospital for regular check-ups. If the growth is slow or there are no symptoms of growth, the interval between two examinations can be relatively longer. If the growth is obvious, surgical treatment should be considered to prevent the uterine fibroids from growing too large and compressing adjacent organs or causing severe bleeding.

4. Strengthen contraceptive measures. Although the chances of successful conception for patients with uterine fibroids may be relatively low, there are also cases of patients with uterine fibroids complicated with pregnancy. Because uterine fibroids will increase the chance of miscarriage during pregnancy, therefore, if the patient has a relatively large uterine fibroid, it is recommended to consider having a child after recovery, so as to avoid miscarriage during pregnancy, which will cause greater harm to the body.
