Will my breasts get smaller after breastfeeding ends?

During the lactation period, women's breasts appear fuller than usual. This is mainly because breastfeeding will fill the breasts with milk. After the lactation period, the ovarian function returns to normal and the hormone secretion also returns to normal. At this time, the breasts return to their original state. During this period, you should strengthen good conditioning and pay attention to massage at ordinary times. This can avoid sagging and atrophy of the breasts.

Will my breasts get smaller after breastfeeding ends?

Nursing a baby is a manifestation of maternal love, and breastfeeding is the best way for babies. All healthy mothers should breastfeed their children.

Under the action of large amounts of estrogen, progesterone, placental lactogen and other hormones, women's breasts become fuller. After delivery, as the levels of various hormones in the body decrease, pituitary lactogen is no longer inhibited, and the mother begins to lactate. The secretion of pituitary lactogen will in turn inhibit the function of the ovaries.

Generally, women's ovarian function will recover quickly after the lactation period. However, some women have prolonged breastfeeding, poor ovarian function, or their ovaries are more sensitive to prolactin, which leads to a slow recovery of ovarian function, resulting in a decrease in female hormone secretion and breast atrophy.

Many women consume a lot of energy during breastfeeding and the hard work of raising children causes their body fat to be greatly reduced, causing them to become thinner and their breasts to shrink. You need to regulate your diet and eat more nutritious foods containing sufficient animal fat and protein to replenish the fat lost in the body. Regularly massaging your breasts can help restore breast fullness.

Mothers who have given birth to babies know that since the beginning of pregnancy, the breasts have been gradually growing to store milk. After giving birth, milk will usually be produced within 12 hours. At this time, the breasts will be much larger and fuller than before pregnancy. Generally speaking, a woman's breasts will sag after breastfeeding, which is very normal. However, not every woman will experience sagging after breastfeeding. Some women have severe sagging, while some women have basically no sagging. It varies from person to person.

How to protect your breasts during breastfeeding

1. Do not let the child excessively pull on the nipples during breastfeeding. After each breastfeeding, gently lift the breasts with your hands and massage for 10 minutes.

2. Wash your breasts with warm water at least twice a day. This is not only beneficial to the cleanliness of the breasts, but also increases the elasticity of the suspensory ligaments, thereby preventing breast sagging. Using a shower head to spray the breasts alternately with hot and cold water can help increase chest skin tension and promote blood circulation in the breasts.

3. Choose a bra with appropriate tightness to achieve the best lifting effect. You should wear a bra from the beginning of breastfeeding. Without a bra, your breasts will sag noticeably due to the added weight. When wearing a bra, choose a style that is the right size and has underwire. At 3 months of pregnancy, the breasts have increased by about 2/3 of a cup size compared to before pregnancy. At this time, you can no longer wear the original bra. When choosing a new bra, make sure that the cup size should be larger or more elastic than before pregnancy.

4. The breastfeeding period should not be too long. The child should be weaned when he is 10 months old.

5. Insist on doing chest expansion exercises such as push-ups to develop and strengthen the chest muscles and enhance the support for the breasts.

6. Eating more foods rich in vitamins E and B, such as lean meat, eggs, milk, beans, sesame, etc., is also beneficial to maintaining healthy breasts.
