How to tell when your period has ended

How to tell when your period has ended

Under normal circumstances, menstruation ends in about 5 to 7 days. Some people are in good physical condition and it can end in about three days. However, to judge whether the menstruation is completely over, you have to look at the secretions on the sanitary napkin. If the amount of bleeding is less day by day, it means that the menstruation is about to end. Generally, there will be no bleeding after the seventh day. The specific situation depends on the individual's physical condition. If the menstruation is not clean after seven days, you need to go to the hospital to check the cause.

The normal menstrual cycle is 3-7 days. If your menstruation lasted for several days in the past, then as long as there is no bleeding within 8 hours, it can be judged that the menstruation is completely over. Generally, backflow is rare. If you have sexual intercourse during menstruation or do not pay attention to your diet during menstruation, it is easier to cause backflow.

Change process

The menstrual cycle is regulated by the interaction between the reproductive hormones of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovary. The following changes occur during the menstrual cycle:

① After women reach puberty, under the control of gonadotropin-releasing hormone in the hypothalamus, the anterior pituitary gland secretes follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and a small amount of luteinizing hormone (LH) to promote the maturation of ovarian follicles and begin to secrete estrogen. Under the influence of estrogen, the endometrium undergoes proliferative changes;

② As the follicles mature, the secretion of estrogen also increases gradually. When it reaches a certain concentration, it promotes the anterior pituitary to increase the secretion of gonadotropin through positive feedback to the hypothalamus and pituitary, and the increase in LH secretion is more obvious, forming a peak of luteinizing hormone release, which causes the mature follicle to ovulate;

③ Under the action of luteinizing hormone, the ovulatory follicle forms a corpus luteum and secretes estrogen and progesterone. During this period, the endometrium, mainly under the action of progesterone, accelerates its growth and functional differentiation, transforming into the secretory endometrium;

④ As the corpus luteum secretes a large amount of estrogen and progesterone, the concentrations of these two hormones in the blood increase, which inhibit the hypothalamus and pituitary gland through negative feedback, causing the pituitary gland to secrete less follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. The corpus luteum then atrophies, and as a result, the progesterone and estrogen also decrease rapidly. The endometrium suddenly loses the support of these two sex hormones, collapses and bleeds, and the endometrium falls off, resulting in menstruation.

Menstruation is commonly known as

Menstruation is also called monthly affairs, monthly water, monthly letter, menstruation, aunt,

Seeing blood, which is called menstrual blood in traditional Chinese medicine, is called menstruation because it occurs once a month for most people. It refers to regular, cyclical uterine bleeding. Strictly speaking, this bleeding should be accompanied by ovarian follicle maturation, ovulation and corpus luteum formation, and the endometrium should undergo changes from proliferation to secretion. However, in clinical practice, uterine bleeding without ovulation is common, which is called anovulatory menstruation.

There are many common names for menstruation, such as bad things, period, aunt, good things, bad luck, etc. The average age of menarche for modern women is 12.5 years old. The age of menopause is usually between 45 and 55 years old, and the reasons are related to various factors such as aging of ovulation function and decreased estrogen secretion.
