Pain during urination in women

Pain during urination in women

The female urethra is shorter and straighter than the male urethra, and is not far from the vaginal opening. Therefore, women are more likely to develop urinary tract infections than men. This disease is caused by the invasion of pathogens and has a lot to do with a person's living habits and hygiene problems. If urethritis occurs, there will be symptoms such as painful urination and even blood in the urine. At this time, you need to take anti-inflammatory drugs in time to promote the relief of symptoms.

In the human excretory system, the kidneys are the organs that produce urine, the ureters are located upstream of the urinary tract, and the urethra is downstream of the urinary tract, which can excrete urine from the body. Therefore, various diseases of the female reproductive system may cause urinary pain. Experts point out that endocervicitis, nonspecific vaginitis, candidal vaginitis, uterine fibroids, ovarian tumors, urinary stones, cancer that requires chemotherapy or pelvic radiation therapy can all cause urinary pain.

Female urinary pain refers to the pain that women experience when urinating, which is a symptom caused by infection and other reproductive tract diseases. It is a normal physiological process for humans to excrete excess water. It should not be painful for women to excrete urine through the urethra.

reason

So, why do women experience pain when urinating?

First of all, the female urethra and vagina are adjacent to each other, and bacteria can easily invade the vagina, especially after sexual intercourse. This is why "honeymoon cystitis" occurs.

Secondly, the female vagina is close to the intestines and anus, and many large intestinal bacteria can enter the vagina, causing urinary tract infection and leading to painful urination.

Third, although the surface of the female urinary tract is covered with a layer of mucus like a protective film, under normal circumstances, the vaginal mucosa will breed a kind of lactobacillus, making the vagina acidic and inhibiting bacterial invasion. However, when these natural defense functions are congenitally deficient or acquiredly changed, they can easily cause vaginal or urinary tract infections. These changes include:

1. Tumors or stones block urine excretion.

2. Cystocele changes the structure and function of the urinary tract.

3. The use of contraceptive spermicides and the abuse of antibiotics lead to changes in vaginal flora.

4. Menopausal women lack hormones.

5. Urinary tract instrument surgery or catheterization destroys the urinary tract mucus protective layer.

Fourth, allergies to soap, toilet paper, lubricants, vaginal cleansers, contraceptive sponges or foams can also cause urinary pain.

(1) Urethritis Urethritis directly affects urination. The inflammatory bacteria can spread in the urethra and is one of the main factors causing urinary pain.

(2) Endocervicitis Endocervicitis in women causes congestion and edema of the cervix, easy bleeding when touched, increased yellow mucopurulent secretions, and lower abdominal discomfort. These parts are closely related to the urethra and are all factors that cause urinary pain.

(3) Nonspecific vaginitis The main symptoms of nonspecific vaginitis are massive shedding of the vaginal epithelium, congestion of the vaginal mucosa, obvious tenderness, and in severe cases, general fatigue and lower abdominal discomfort. The amount of vaginal discharge is large and purulent or serous. The outflow of vaginal discharge irritates the urethra and causes severe urinary pain.

(4) The prominent symptoms of candidal vaginitis are increased leucorrhea and severe itching of the vulva and vagina. The vaginal membrane is highly edematous with white flaky films adhering to it and easily peeling off. In addition, the damaged mucosa may erode the base or form shallow ulcers, which irritate the urethra and cause urinary pain.

(5) Uterine fibroids are benign genital tumors that are common in women aged 30 to 50 years old. The symptom is a lump in the lower abdomen. Bacteria on these lumps may invade the urethra through the reproductive tract and cause painful urination.
