(I) Chronic local irritation 1. Irritating vaginal discharge: such as Trichomonas vaginitis, fungal vaginitis, bacterial vaginitis, senile vaginitis, gonococcal vaginitis, mycoplasma, chlamydia infection, etc., are all common causes of vulvar itching. A small number of patients with cervicitis, cervical erosion, cervical polyps, normal pregnancy or pelvic tumors may suffer from vulvar itching due to excessive cervical or vaginal secretions. 2. Urine irritation: For example, the vulvar skin of patients with high acidity urine, pyuria, urinary incontinence, and vesicovaginal fistula is soaked in urine for a long time, or the anal itching caused by pinworm disease extends upward and causes vulvar itching. 3. Other local factors: such as poor maintenance of vulvar hygiene, especially in obese women, the vulva is often in a damp state, or the use of contraceptive membranes, condoms, lubricants and other material stimulations, as well as wearing synthetic underwear with poor breathability, or unclean underwear may become pathogenic factors.

(III) Psychogenic vulvar pruritus Psychological factors or emotional fluctuations can induce or aggravate the itching sensation, which is called psychogenic vulvar pruritus. It can be divided into three categories: 1. Psychogenic vulvar pruritus without skin changes. 2. Psychogenic vulvar pruritus accompanied by skin changes. 3. Psychological factors increase the sensitivity of skin itching.
