What to do if pregnancy occurs in the uterine angle?

There are many situations that may occur to female friends during pregnancy. Pregnancy in the cornua is a typical situation. This situation is what people often call cornua pregnancy, or ectopic pregnancy. This situation can pose a great threat to female friends, and sometimes even threatens the life safety of female friends, but most female friends do not know what to do. So, what to do if pregnancy occurs in the uterine cornu?

First, what should be done if the pregnancy occurs in the cornua? Pregnant women with cornua pregnancy who have acute uterine rupture should undergo laparotomy or combined hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. In the early pregnancy, abortion can be performed; in the middle or late pregnancy, pregnant women often feel abdominal pain on one side of the uterine fundus, or sudden severe pain in the whole abdomen for no reason, internal bleeding, showing signs of uterine rupture. Once discovered, a combined uterine and abdominal surgery is performed immediately. The embryos can be removed from the uterine cavity under laparoscopic monitoring if the patient is close to the uterine cavity, or through a laparoscopic window if the patient is far from the uterine cavity, and then sutured and catheterized. Laparoscopic surgery to repair uterine rupture.

Second, new methods for treating cornual pregnancy. Interventional treatment involves finding the femoral artery through the skin at the base of the thigh, inserting a catheter into the uterine artery, displaying the uterine vascular supply under special instruments, administering medication for cornual pregnancy, and aborting the embryo with medicine. In order to prevent heavy bleeding during miscarriage, special materials are used to embolize the uterine artery. After embolization of the uterine artery, collateral circulation is formed in about 20 days without affecting the normal blood supply to the uterus. This technique is simple, less invasive, reduces the risk of heavy bleeding, and does not affect fertility. Because it requires special equipment and technicians, it is not currently used on a large scale in clinical practice.

What should you do if you are pregnant in the cornua? The treatment methods mainly depend on the specific situation of cornua pregnancy, including medication, curettage, laparoscopy or laparotomy. For safety reasons, those who suspect cornual pregnancy in early pregnancy are advised to terminate the pregnancy. For mothers of precious children and patients who strongly request to preserve the fetus, if their general condition is good, HCG and B-ultrasound results can be tracked regularly; conservative drug treatment: intramuscular injection of MTX (the method is the same as ectopic pregnancy), or medical abortion using mifepristone combined with misoprostol; laparoscopic cornual wedge resection or cornual incision, and salpingectomy or preservation of the fallopian tube can be performed depending on the situation. Laparotomy: Uterine cornual rupture and intra-abdominal bleeding require laparotomy. For patients with cornual pregnancy in late pregnancy, cesarean section should be selected as the delivery method, and attention should be paid to placental separation and prevention of postpartum hemorrhage.
