White discharge from labia

White discharge from labia

The labia is a part of the female lower body and is also a very private part of the female body. Precisely because of the privacy of the labia, many women are embarrassed to go to the hospital in time when there is a problem with their labia, and often wait until the problem cannot be solved by themselves before seeking help from a doctor. The health of the labia has a lot to do with whether women pay attention to hygiene. Women who are unhygienic are more likely to have diseases on their labia. What is the reason for the sudden appearance of white discharge from the labia?

The most common cause is gynecological inflammation.

Gynecological inflammation is a common disease among women, mainly referring to inflammation of the female reproductive organs. Acute and chronic inflammation can occur in many organs of women, including vulvitis, vaginitis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. For mycoplasma and chlamydia infections, as long as there are no symptoms, mycoplasma positivity is just a normal residence of the human body. This is normal and there is no need to worry.

From the perspective of etiology, the pathogenicity of mycoplasma is weaker than many other pathogens, so when inflammation really occurs and the test results are positive for mycoplasma, the first thing to consider is whether there are other pathogens. This is because mycoplasma infection often occurs after other pathogens cause inflammation in the body, which in turn reduces the body's local disease resistance. If it happens to a pregnant woman, it may cause intrauterine infection, birth canal infection, etc., affecting the newborn, resulting in serious consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth, congenital malformations, and mental retardation.

Physiological causes

1. The skin of the female vulva is very delicate, has abundant sweat glands, many wrinkles, is hidden and not exposed, has poor air permeability, and is most susceptible to attack by pathogens.

2. The female reproductive organs and abdominal cavity are connected to the outside world. This is the unique feature of the female reproductive organs. Pathogens can enter the uterus through the vagina.

3. Normally, there are a large number of lactobacilli in the vagina, which decompose glycogen to produce lactic acid, making the vagina acidic and not conducive to the growth of harmful bacteria. However, when local resistance decreases, some bacteria and pathogens will take advantage of the situation and enter.

4. The vaginal opening is close to the urethral opening and anus, and is contaminated by urine and feces, making it easy for bacteria to breed.

5. Due to menstruation, pregnancy and other reasons, the cervix is immersed in irritating secretions for a long time, causing epithelial shedding, which can easily lead to wrinkles in the cervical endometrium and the lurking of various pathogens in the glands.

Pathological causes

1. Not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation: using unclean sanitary pads, having sex during menstruation, etc.

2. Intrauterine surgery is not sterilized strictly.

3. Gynecological surgeries such as abortion and childbirth can damage the cervix and vagina, leading to infection.

4. The female vulva and genital mucosa are important organs involved in sexual activity. Sexual intercourse can cause damage or cross-infection to local tissues.

The pH value of the vagina of mature women is slightly acidic, which has the ability to inhibit bacterial reproduction and prevent infection to a certain extent. However, the vulva of young girls is poorly developed, they lack estrogen, and the pH value in their vagina is higher. Therefore, they have poor resistance to infection and are easily infected by bacteria. In addition, young children have the habit of sitting anywhere, and their vulva is easily soaked by urine and feces, which increases their susceptibility factors. Therefore, infants and young children are prone to vulvitis and vaginitis.
