After giving birth, a woman will stay in confinement for a month. The so-called confinement is a custom passed down in my country from ancient times to the present. People believe that a woman should take care of her body one month after giving birth, because the body after giving birth is very weak and it is easy to suffer from various diseases. Confinement diseases are very difficult to cure. Many mothers still drink 8 glasses of water a day during the confinement period. Is it good to drink more boiled water during the confinement period?

1. Does drinking boiled water affect breast milk?

New mothers are often warned by the elderly during the confinement period not to drink boiled water during breastfeeding, otherwise it will affect the quality of milk. In fact, this is not the case. Drinking boiled water during the confinement period has nothing to do with sufficient milk supply. The main relationship is whether the mother's qi and blood are sufficient. Because qi and blood are the main substances produced by milk. Low milk supply can be roughly divided into weak Qi and blood, stagnation of liver Qi, and stagnation of phlegm. The treatment for insufficient milk caused by different reasons is different. Stagnation of liver qi may be accompanied by depression and loss of appetite; stagnation of phlegm may be accompanied by obesity, chest tightness, excessive phlegm, poor appetite, and loose stools; milk deficiency caused by blood deficiency is manifested by soft, non-swollen breasts, pale complexion, and fatigue.

Replenishing water during breastfeeding is beneficial to milk secretion. Breastfeeding mothers should drink more water, soup, fresh fruit juice, etc. to replenish the water in breast milk. Insufficient water supply will reduce milk secretion. Especially within one month after delivery, commonly known as "confinement", mothers should eat more soups such as chicken soup, pork knuckle soup, crucian carp soup, etc. These soups not only contain a lot of water, but also rich amino acids, inorganic salts, etc. It can supplement the nutritional consumption of nursing mothers during delivery and promote milk secretion. During the first two weeks after delivery, your appetite will be poor, so you can eat light meals, and then gradually increase your nutrition.

2. What to do if you don’t have enough milk

It is very common to have insufficient milk after giving birth, so mothers don’t need to worry too much. As long as you maintain a good mood and eat more foods that have the effect of promoting lactation, it will be of great help.

1. Mothers with weak qi and blood and insufficient milk should choose to eat foods such as pig's trotters, crucian carp, fish heads, peanuts, sheep's trotters, soybeans, tofu, and red beans.

2. Mothers who have swollen breasts, blocked mammary glands and lack of breast milk can choose to eat loofah, amaranth, celery, lettuce, papaya, etc., which can soothe the liver and promote qi, and unblock the meridians and promote lactation.

3. Foods to eat more after giving birth:

A. Staple foods and beans: rice, millet, brown rice, black rice, cornmeal, wheat flour, oats, buckwheat, red beans, kidney beans, black beans, other soy products, etc.

B. Meat, eggs and milk: pork, beef, chicken, duck, pig's trotter, pig liver, rabbit meat, crucian carp, sea bass, grass carp, shrimp, sea cucumber, squid, oysters, eggs and milk, etc.

C. Vegetables: eggplant, cabbage, cauliflower, carrot, tomato, potato, sweet potato, pumpkin, winter melon, loofah, spinach, celery, rapeseed, lotus root, kelp, onion, seaweed, yam, etc.

D. Fruits: apples, oranges, bananas, papayas, strawberries, watermelons, kiwis, lemons, sugar cane, dates, etc.
