What's going on with white discharge from the nipple?

This disease is caused by emotional frustration and stagnation of liver qi, which over time leads to qi stagnation and blood stasis in the milk. The reason why it eventually becomes a chronic disease is mostly because the patients are impatient for quick results and blindly use medication, which ultimately makes it difficult to cure. It is recommended that, under the premise of improving one's own immune resistance function, one should have a correct understanding, be optimistic, and be in a good mood, and cooperate with comprehensive treatment based on syndrome differentiation and treatment with targeted Chinese patent medicines, so as to achieve a complete cure.

There may be a space-occupying lesion in the milk duct, or it may be a papilloma. It is recommended to have a ductoscopy. But white discharge is generally not a problem. No need to worry.

The cause of galactorrhea is excessive secretion of prolactin in the body. The causes of high prolactin are very complex, including two major categories: physiological and pathological. It can be systemic or local. First, multiple miscarriages after giving birth will cause an increase in the level of prolactin in the body; due to poor sleep, long-term use of sedatives and hypnotics; those with pulmonary tuberculosis or intestinal tuberculosis who are taking anti-tuberculosis drugs for a long time during treatment; married women need to take long-term oral contraceptives due to discomfort with wearing an IUD; in addition, hyperpituitarism, pituitary microadenoma, hypothalamic disorder and taking antihypertensive drugs, etc. Physiologically, it is mostly due to strong sexual stimulation, which causes a temporary increase in prolactin, which will quickly return to normal. Mammary duct ectasia can also cause a small amount of milky secretions. Women with breast hyperplasia may also experience galactorrhea, accompanied by breast pain, which is caused by endocrine disorders.

Women with galactorrhea should not be careless and should go to the hospital for examination in time. It is recommended to do routine examination of the discharge, cytology of the discharge, fasting blood test for prolactin, breast B-ultrasound, breast mammography, and breast ductoscopy to identify the cause and provide symptomatic treatment.
