How to know if it's a boy or a girl during early pregnancy

After some women become pregnant, they are very curious about whether the baby in their belly is a boy or a girl. Nowadays, everyone is equal, and it makes no difference whether you have a boy or a girl. Girls can also reproduce, and they are more heartwarming. But some people are still curious, how can you know whether it is a boy or a girl during pregnancy, how can you know whether it is a man or a woman during pregnancy?

1. Ultrasonic Scanner

Ultrasound is a sound wave frequency. It has no adverse effects on the fetus and is therefore widely used in obstetrics and gynecology. When using ultrasound to diagnose the sex of a fetus, the accuracy for a boy is over 95%, while the reliability for a girl is only around 85%. And the accuracy is directly related to the experience of the ultrasound technician or doctor.

2. Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is mainly used to confirm whether the fetus has defects in sex chromosomes or neural tube defects. Amniocentesis is usually performed between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. Since the sex chromosomes of the fetus can be known, the gender of the fetus can also be known. The accuracy is 99%, but there is a 1% chance of miscarriage. Therefore, it is not recommended to perform amniocentesis or draw umbilical cord blood just to predict the sex of the fetus.

3. Hair sampling

Also known as "hair sampling", it is usually performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. The main purpose is the same as amniocentesis, which is to confirm whether the fetus's sex chromosomes are normal, but some people also use it to confirm the sex of the fetus. The accuracy reaches 98%. Although the use of hair sampling can determine the sex of the fetus as early as 11 weeks of pregnancy, it may cause miscarriage (3% to 5%) and may also harm the fetus, resulting in incomplete hands and feet. Therefore, it is best not to undergo this type of test simply to determine the sex of the fetus.

4. DNA blood test

Using genetic engineering technology, the blood of the pregnant mother is used to determine the gender of the fetus. After 8 weeks of pregnancy, a DNA blood test can be performed. The blood test has no effect on the pregnant woman and the fetus. This technology has been fully developed and is currently the earliest, fastest and safest way to identify the sex of a fetus. Because sampling is simple and convenient, has no effect on pregnant mothers and fetuses, and has a high accuracy rate of 99.5%, it has become a hot topic among modern people.

How to tell if you're having a boy or girl

1. If the fetal heart rate is less than 140 beats/minute, it is a boy; if it is higher than 140 beats/minute, it is a girl: it means that the heartbeat of a girl is higher than that of a boy. This is only true when the baby is just born. There is no difference between the heartbeat of a boy and a girl in the fetus. The heart rate only changes with the gestational age.

2. The pregnant woman is expecting a boy, but the upper part of the pregnancy is a girl: If the pregnant woman is expecting a girl, it may be her first pregnancy or the pregnant woman is in good health. After a pregnant woman has been pregnant once, her abdominal muscles become weak, and of course they become "loose" when she becomes pregnant again.

3. Physical characteristics of the pregnant mother: The body shape of the pregnant mother is also closely related to the fetus. If the pregnant mother's body is flexible and does not look pregnant from the back, it is a boy. On the contrary, if the pregnant mother's body is lazy and relatively heavy, and the pregnancy can be clearly seen from the back, it is a girl.

4. Determine the gender of the fetus from the location of the baby's fetal movement: Most of the fetal movements of boys are up and down, while those of girls are around the belly button. It can also be seen from the shape of the belly button. If it is a girl, the belly button may be flat or convex when lying flat; for boys, it is a pit. The longer the pregnancy lasts, the more significant the baby's movements will be.
