What causes vulvar dryness and itching?

1. Drug allergy:

"Fixed drug rash" caused by sulfonamides or other drugs in women with allergic constitution often occurs at the junction of the skin and mucous membrane of the vulva. In addition to local itching, it may be complicated by erosion and exudation. Vulvar itching may also occur if allergic reactions and contact dermatitis occur when using drugs for vaginal washing or vaginal insertion.

2. Bad hygiene habits:

If you do not pay attention to cleaning the vulva on a regular basis, vaginal secretions or menstrual blood will accumulate in the vulva and cause itching. On the contrary, washing the vulva several times a day, or frequently using strong alkaline soaps, or washing the vulva with potassium permanganate water will make the vulva skin too dry and cause itching.

3. Infectious diseases:

The most common causes of vulvar itching are Trichomonas infection or fungal infection. When suffering from Trichomonas vaginitis or bacterial vaginitis, or cervical erosion, the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly, and the inflammatory secretions irritate the vulvar skin and mucous membranes, causing itching.

In addition, pubic lice, pubic scabies and some sexually transmitted diseases can also cause vulvar itching. Pinworm disease is common in young girls, mainly causing itching around the anus, which may spread to the vulva and occur at night.

Of course, in addition to the influence of some daily factors, many gynecological diseases can also cause vulvar dryness and itching. Therefore, for women with unknown causes, they should go to the hospital for diagnosis in time to effectively determine the specific cause of vulvar dryness and itching, and then treat it symptomatically.

Vulvar itching is a symptom that can be caused by various reasons. Local causes include special infections (such as candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, diabetes, pubic lice, scabies, pinworm disease), chronic vulvar malnutrition, drug allergy or chemical irritation, bad hygiene habits, skin diseases, etc. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for a detailed examination in time to identify the cause and receive symptomatic treatment.
