Septoplasty

Septoplasty

With the rapid development of cosmetic surgery technology, many people who love beauty in life will undergo micro plastic surgery. Septoplasty is one of the minor adjustments. Septum reshaping also requires surgery, but it does not require silicone filling, so it is relatively safer and the surgical process is not as cumbersome as other surgeries. Although septum plastic surgery is better than traditional plastic surgery, it has its pros and cons. Here we introduce the pros and cons of septum plastic surgery in detail.

1. Advantages

Autologous nasal septum cartilage transplantation is a part of autologous tissue transplantation, which avoids the rejection reaction of allogeneic tissue and has high safety. The nasal septum cartilage removal surgery and the columella lengthening surgery are performed through the same surgical incision, and there is no need to make a second surgical area in other parts of the body, so the total wound area of the human body is reduced.

The nasal septum cartilage is easy to shape and fix, and has a significant supporting effect. For patients with the indications, it is easier to achieve the cosmetic requirements of nose surgery. The nasal septum cartilage is hard and can easily be shaped into a round and upturned nose tip. It can even treat nasal septum deviation or correct nasal congestion.

2. Disadvantages

Although the overall safety of septum rhinoplasty is the highest compared to other surgeries, it can generally only improve the tip of the nose and cannot change the overall shape of the nose because only a very small amount of septum cartilage can be removed. As we all know, all plastic surgery will gradually absorb, but the amount of absorption varies from person to person, which is the recovery period. The recovery period for septum cartilage is generally up to two years. In order to ensure a beautiful appearance in the early postoperative period, the nasal septum cartilage must be used to provide good support, so the nasal septum cartilage often feels harder after the operation. There is a risk of affecting nasal function and causing a crooked nose. Postoperative complications are the same as those of general surgical operations, and people with scar-prone constitutions are strictly prohibited from undergoing surgery, as obvious scars will be left after the operation, affecting the cosmetic effect.
