How to detect pregnancy test stick

How to detect pregnancy test stick

Pregnancy test sticks are not unfamiliar to many people. They are also a common method for detecting pregnancy, and their accuracy rate is relatively high. People usually judge whether they are pregnant based on the test results of pregnancy test sticks. Of course, different displays have different interpretations of the results. Some people test as one line, and some people test as two lines. So how does a pregnancy test stick indicate pregnancy?

1. Pregnancy test stick

A pregnancy test stick is a tool used by women to detect whether they are pregnant. The principle of the pregnancy test stick is based on the detection of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in human urine. If two lines appear on the pregnancy test stick, you are pregnant (positive). HCG is a troponin secreted by the placenta of pregnant women. It is distributed throughout the body with the blood, thereby acting on target organs. A certain concentration of HCG is also present in the urine. Currently, most pregnancy test products on the market use the colloidal gold method, which conducts qualitative or semi-quantitative detection of HCG in urine based on the double antibody sandwich principle to determine whether a woman is pregnant. It is worth noting that such pregnancy test products are not 100% accurate, and certain diseases may also cause increased HCG concentrations in the body, resulting in false positive results.

2. Results

Not pregnant: Only one control line appears, indicating no pregnancy.

Pregnancy: If two lines appear, that is, both the control line and the test line are colored, and the test line is obviously clear, it means that you are pregnant; if the control line is obviously clear and the test line is very light, it means that you may be pregnant. Please collect morning urine with a new morning paper and retest every 2 days.

Invalid: No control line appears within 5 minutes, indicating that the test is invalid or failed.

3. Note

When testing for pregnancy, try to use the first urine sample in the morning, as hormone levels are most easily detected at this time. If this is not possible, make sure the urine is in the bladder for at least four hours before testing. Do not drink too much water to increase urine production, as this will dilute hormone levels.
