How to deal with breast discharge during pregnancy

Women's breasts need to be cleaned regularly, especially during pregnancy. It is better to do a good job of cleaning the breasts, because clean breasts can make the milk ducts more unobstructed, and make the nipples more resilient. At the same time, it can effectively prevent the occurrence of many complications such as nipple fissures during lactation. It can be seen that timely cleaning of the breasts is very important. So how to deal with breast secretions during pregnancy?

First, how to deal with breast secretions during pregnancy? Some pregnant mothers will begin to secrete colostrum in the second half of pregnancy, and even find a little white and transparent watery substance at the nipple. However, there is no need for breast pads at this time, because the hormones in the body will be balanced and regulated, and when the baby has not yet been born, the secretion of milk will not be too much. In addition to colostrum, many pregnant mothers will have small, white, protruding sebaceous glands on their areola, called "Montgomery" glands, which also secrete sebum. The secretion of sebum is to moisturize the nipples and increase protection for the nipples for future breastfeeding. At the same time, it emits a special smell so that the baby born in the future can find the mother through the smell and trigger a breast-seeking reflex. If you find the above secretions, just wipe them off gently with clean water. There is no need to use soap. Don't wash them too clean, so as not to make the nipples too dry and vulnerable to damage.

Second, during the colostrum appearance stage, colostrum tends to form scabs on the nipples, which should be softened with ointment first and then removed with warm water. If you use soap or alcohol to clean your nipples before giving birth, the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands around the nipples that protect the skin will be removed, and the nipples will become too dry and easily cracked and damaged. Therefore, pregnant women who plan to breastfeed are not recommended to use soap and alcohol to clean their breasts. Breast care should be done in exposure to sunlight and air. Pregnant women should prepare a clean towel and warm water to clean their breasts every day. Be careful not to cause irritation or soreness to the nipples when scrubbing. In the last three months of pregnancy, rubbing the nipples with a dry towel can strengthen the nipples and help prevent nipple cracks.

How to deal with breast secretions during pregnancy? During pregnancy, a woman's sebaceous glands secrete more, the sweat glands on the areola also enlarge, and the nipples become soft. The increase in sweat gland and sebaceous gland secretions also acidifies the skin surface, causing the stratum corneum to soften. At this time, if you always use soap or other cleansing products to wash these secretions from the nipples and areola, it will be detrimental to women's breast health.
