Which part of the stomach hurts when labor occurs?

There are many problems in the human body, and stomach pain is a common one. There are many types of stomach pain, such as contractions, local pain, etc. Contractions are actually short-term pains, but they will come out from time to time and catch people off guard. Stomach pain may cause many problems, so once we find stomach pain, we should go to the hospital for examination. So, which part of the stomach hurts when there are contractions?

In clinical medicine, labor pains refer to the physiological phenomenon of intermittent severe pain caused by uterine contractions before delivery.

Labor pains are different from ordinary pains and are intermittent. At the beginning, they contract once every 3 to 5 minutes and each time lasts 30 to 40 seconds. When the cervix is almost fully dilated, the contractions may become as frequent as once every 1 to 2 minutes and each time lasts 45 to 60 seconds. The pain of labor will gradually become stronger. Increasing pain means that the fetus is about to be born. Don't panic when facing labor pains that are getting faster and faster.

During pregnancy, the uterus often contracts, especially when approaching the due date. This is called "false labor" or "false pain". Because it can easily cause discomfort and anxiety in pregnant women, some people mistakenly think that birth is coming, but it occurs more irregularly and is less painful.

If contractions occur approximately every ten minutes, you should notify your doctor immediately and prepare to go to the hospital for delivery. If a contraction occurs every five minutes, it means that delivery has begun and the uterus will contract regularly. The contraction at this time is called labor, and it will be followed by severe pain. The expectant mother must go to the hospital as soon as possible.

In addition, mothers should be reminded that sometimes the amniotic membrane breaks before contractions occur. This is called "early rupture of water" and mothers should immediately ask a doctor to check whether the cervix is open and whether there is umbilical cord prolapse. If the water breaks for too long, it is more likely to cause bacterial infection and lead to some complications, so mothers should be careful.

The main function of labor pains is to open the cervix so that the fetus can be delivered through the cervix. As delivery approaches, the uterus will begin to contract. As the uterus contracts, the fetus stretches and compresses the birth canal. The pelvic nerves and bones are compressed by the fetus, causing prenatal labor pains.

When the fetus descends into the pelvis and presses on the pubic bone, the site of contractions will shift from the upper abdomen to the lower abdomen. As labor progresses, the frequency of labor contractions will increase and the pain will gradually intensify.
