What are the symptoms of a ruptured follicle?

Many women do not have a very good understanding of follicular rupture. Follicular rupture actually refers to the process of discharge of the egg cell and the surrounding cumulus granules. If the follicle does not rupture, it will cause great harm to women's health. Therefore, in daily life, you should always pay attention to your body changes and manifestations. If you have adverse symptoms, you should go to the hospital for examination and active treatment in time to keep your body healthy.

Symptoms of ruptured ovarian follicle

Follicle rupture mainly causes lower abdominal pain, which is a signal that the egg is being discharged from the ovary. Pre-ovulation pain mostly occurs on one side of the abdomen, often when the pressure in the follicle increases; post-ovulation pain is mostly due to the contraction of the uterus and fallopian tubes during ovulation or bleeding during ovulation that stimulates the pelvic organs; abdominal pain occurs before and after the basal body temperature rises.

The symptoms of unruptured ovary are: generally there is no history of irregular menstruation or amenorrhea. Most of the symptoms occur in the middle of the menstrual period or before menstruation. The onset is sudden, with sudden severe pain in the lower abdomen. After a short time, it becomes continuous pain, which then gradually subsides or becomes severe again. Nausea and vomiting may occur occasionally but they are not significant. There is generally no vaginal bleeding. Severe internal bleeding may cause shock symptoms.

Bimanual examination

There is tenderness in the cervix and tenderness in the fornix on both sides. The uterus is of normal size and is painful to move. When there is a lot of internal bleeding, you may feel fullness in the adnexal area or posterior fornix. Sometimes an enlarged ovary can be palpated.

Follicle appearance time

At the beginning of each menstrual cycle, multiple follicles develop simultaneously, but in most cases only one or two follicles develop to maturity, which are called primary follicles, and the remaining follicles close one after another. In more than 90% of the cycles, only one follicle grows rapidly to maturity, and in 5%-11%, two primary follicles develop. The earliest time for ultrasound imaging of follicles is 5-7 days in the menstrual cycle, and the smallest diameter displayed is 4-5mm.

Follicle growth rate

Ultrasound can detect small follicles in the ovaries on the 3rd to 5th day of the menstrual cycle. They gradually grow larger, reach their largest size on the 14th day on average, and ovulation can occur. Warm reminder: Normal ovulation is a basic condition for female conception. If the female follicles do not rupture, it will lead to female infertility. Therefore, treatment must be sought as early as possible.
