Scientific care is very important for senile vaginitis

Senile vaginitis belongs to the category of "leucorrhea" and "vulvar itching" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is a relatively serious disease. Improper care will induce a series of diseases, so it is particularly important to learn scientific care. Scientific care methods are divided into oral administration and external washing. At the same time, patients also need to have a full understanding of the clinical manifestations of the disease and remember some precautions.

1. Oral prescription

15 grams each of raw rehmannia, cooked rehmannia, cornus officinalis, and coix seed, 12 grams each of yam, wolfberry, poria, and oriental water plantain, 9 grams each of angelica and anemarrhena, and 5 grams of licorice.

Decoction in water, 1 dose per day, divided into 2 to 3 times.

2. External washing method

15 grams each of epimedium, cnidium monnieri, kochia scoparia, polygonum multiflorum, angelica, stemona, and cicada shell, and 10 grams each of red peony root, phellodendron, gentian, and honeysuckle.

Take 1 dose daily, decoct in water, and sit in the bath for 20 minutes each time, twice a day. One course of treatment is 7 days. Generally, 1 to 3 courses of treatment are enough to cure the disease.

3. Clinical manifestations of senile vaginitis

① Vaginal discharge increases, becomes thinner, and light yellow. In severe cases, it may present as bloody and purulent leucorrhea with a foul odor.

② Itching or burning sensation in the vulva.

③ Atrophy of the vaginal mucosa, which may be accompanied by pain during sexual intercourse. Sometimes there is urinary incontinence.

④ The infection can also invade the urethra and cause urinary system irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating.

⑤ Gynecological examination can show atrophic changes in the vaginal mucosa, the folds disappear, the epithelium becomes thin and smooth, the vaginal mucosa is congested, there are small bleeding spots, and sometimes there are superficial ulcers. The ulcer surface may adhere to the opposite side. During examination, the adhesion may cause bleeding due to separation. When adhesion is severe, it causes vaginal stenosis or even occlusion, and the inflammatory secretions are not drained smoothly, forming vaginal pyometra or uterine pyometra.

4. Nursing precautions for senile vaginitis

(1) Do not use hot water to wash the vulva

When senile vaginitis occurs, do not use hot water to wash the vulva due to vulvar itching. Although doing so can temporarily relieve vulvar itching, it will make the vulvar skin dry and rough, and the itching will soon become more obvious. When cleaning the vulva, it is advisable to use a feminine care solution with a weak acid formula.

(2) Change and wash underwear every day

Change your underwear every day during your illness. The underwear should be loose and comfortable, and made of pure cotton.

(3) Do not use medications indiscriminately when discomfort occurs in the vulva

Because the bacteria that cause senile vaginitis are mostly Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus and other bacteria, unlike women of childbearing age who are most common in candidal vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis, do not use drugs for treating fungi or Trichomonas indiscriminately, and do not treat vulvovaginitis as vulvar eczema and use hormone ointments indiscriminately, as this will be counterproductive.

(4) Pay attention to hygiene to reduce the chance of illness

Do not use soap or various liquid medicines to clean the vulva for the purpose of disinfection and sterilization. Because the vulva skin of elderly women is generally dry and atrophied, frequently using soap and other highly irritating cleaning products to clean the vulva will aggravate skin dryness, cause itching, and damage the vulva skin. When cleaning the vulva, use a feminine care lotion with a weak acid formula. The toilet paper you choose should have the word "approved" printed on it. Change and wash your underwear frequently. Do not share your own cleaning basins and towels with others.

(5) Apply a small amount of oil to the vaginal opening before sexual intercourse

Because the vaginal mucosa of elderly women is thin and the elastic tissue in the vagina is reduced, sexual intercourse may damage the vaginal mucosa and blood vessels in the mucosa, allowing bacteria to invade. Solution: Apply a small amount of oil to the vaginal opening before sexual intercourse to lubricate the vagina and reduce friction.

Conclusion: Through the above-mentioned folk remedies that can effectively treat senile vaginitis, I believe that most of our readers have a certain understanding.
