Does pelvic tuberculosis affect fertility?

Many female friends do not take pelvic tuberculosis seriously, thinking that the disease has no impact. This idea is wrong. After suffering from pelvic tuberculosis, the body will experience symptoms such as irregular menstruation, lower abdominal pain, and infertility. Pelvic tuberculosis can affect fertility if it becomes serious, so everyone must pay attention to it.

Pelvic tuberculosis is mainly caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Female genital tuberculosis is called pelvic tuberculosis, also known as tuberculous pelvic inflammatory disease. Pelvic tuberculosis is very common in women aged 20 to 40 years old. Of course, pelvic tuberculosis can also be seen in elderly women after menopause. Among pelvic tuberculosis, fallopian tube tuberculosis is the most common, accounting for about 95% of the incidence. Since the location of tuberculosis is in the pelvic area, it is inevitable that people will think of women's fertility. So can pelvic tuberculosis help with fertility? The answer is that pelvic tuberculosis can cause infertility. Therefore, pelvic tuberculosis definitely has an impact on fertility.

The clinical symptoms of pelvic tuberculosis mainly include the following aspects.

1. Menstrual disorders. Pelvic tuberculosis can cause endometrial congestion and ulcers in women, which can manifest as excessive menstrual flow or irregular menstrual cycles.

2. Discomfort and soreness in the lower abdomen. Pelvic tuberculosis can cause pelvic adhesions and varying degrees of lower abdominal distension and pain, which may be aggravated during menstruation.

3. Systemic symptoms. Pelvic tuberculosis has common symptoms of tuberculosis in other parts of the body, such as fever, night sweats, fatigue, and loss of appetite.

4. Infertility. Since pelvic tuberculosis can cause destruction and adhesion of the fallopian tube mucosa, it can cause blockage of the fallopian tube, thereby causing female infertility.
