What are the eight causes of ectopic pregnancy?

The occurrence of ectopic pregnancy is generally not accidental, because it is a very common disease and it can cause great damage to the uterus. Common causes of ectopic pregnancy include fallopian tube inflammation, fallopian tube dysplasia, disease causes, bad living habits, etc. These causes are relatively common. If you want to prevent ectopic pregnancy, you must have a healthy body and lifestyle.

1. Fallopian tube inflammation

It can be divided into tubal mucositis and perisalpingitis, both of which are common causes of tubal pregnancy. Severe cases of fallopian tube mucositis can cause complete blockage of the tubal lumen and lead to infertility. The lesions of perisalpingitis are mainly in the serosa or seromuscular layer of the fallopian tube, which often causes adhesions around the fallopian tube, twisting of the fallopian tube, stenosis of the tubal lumen, and weakened peristalsis of the tubal wall muscles, affecting the movement of the fertilized egg.

2. History of tubal pregnancy

Women who have had a tubal pregnancy are more likely to have another tubal pregnancy after recovering from surgical treatment.

3. Insertion of intrauterine device

The use of an IUD itself does not increase the incidence of ectopic pregnancy, but if a woman becomes pregnant due to IUD contraceptive failure, the chance of an ectopic pregnancy is greater.

4. Hypoplasia or dysfunction of fallopian tubes

When fallopian tube dysplasia occurs, symptoms such as the fallopian tube is too long or the base is poorly developed and the mucociliary tissue is lacking. If a woman has abnormal fallopian tube function, progesterone cannot be regulated normally, which will affect the normal operation of the fertilized egg.

5. The fertilized egg wanders

When the egg is fertilized in one fallopian tube and enters the opposite fallopian tube through the uterine cavity or abdominal cavity, it is called fertilized egg migration. If the migration time is too long, the fertilized egg will grow larger and can implant in the opposite fallopian tube and form a tubal pregnancy.

6. Causes of disease

Compression from tumors around the fallopian tubes, such as uterine fibroids or ovarian tumors, sometimes affects the patency of the fallopian tube lumen, obstructing the movement of the fertilized egg. Endometriosis can increase the likelihood that a fertilized egg will implant in the fallopian tube.

7. Multiple artificial abortions

Repeated and frequent artificial abortions will cause trauma to the endometrium, making it difficult for the embryo to implant in the uterine cavity. It will then transfer to another place to implant, resulting in an ectopic pregnancy.

8. Bad living habits

When women smoke for a long time, drink alcohol or take ovulation-stimulating drugs in the restroom, it may cause ectopic pregnancy.

How early can an ectopic pregnancy be detected?

Generally, patients with ectopic pregnancy can be diagnosed 35 days after pregnancy. If a female friend finds that she has amenorrhea, she should get checked in time. Regular check-ups are also needed after pregnancy, and the check-ups should also include ectopic pregnancy checks. This way, she can be more certain whether the pregnancy is normal. Otherwise, timely treatment is needed.

Symptoms of ectopic pregnancy

Before tubal pregnancy miscarriage or rupture, symptoms and signs are not obvious. In addition to short-term amenorrhea and pregnancy symptoms, sometimes there is bloating and pain in one side of the lower abdomen. During examination, the fallopian tubes may be normal or enlarged. The specific symptoms are as follows:

Amenorrhea: Except for interstitial pregnancy, which lasts for a longer period of time, most amenorrhea lasts for 6 to 8 weeks. Generally, symptoms such as abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding occur after amenorrhea. However, about 20% of patients complain of no history of amenorrhea.

Abdominal pain: It is the main symptom when the patient seeks treatment. Abdominal pain is caused by many factors, including fallopian tube enlargement, rupture, and blood irritating the peritoneum. When rupture occurs, the patient suddenly feels tearing pain in one side of the lower abdomen, often accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Vaginal bleeding: After the death of the embryo, there is often irregular vaginal bleeding, which is dark brown in color and small in amount, generally not exceeding the amount of menstruation, but it is spotty and not clean.

Syncope and shock: Due to acute intra-abdominal bleeding, it can cause decreased blood volume and severe abdominal pain. Mild cases often cause syncope, while severe cases may experience shock.

Ectopic pregnancy can easily be confused with other abdominal pain problems, so care should be taken to distinguish them. The pain of ectopic pregnancy starts from the chest and gradually moves to the right lower abdomen; intestinal volvulus causes sudden abdominal pain and bloating; gallstones cause pain in the right upper abdomen. An ectopic pregnancy, that is, a ruptured pregnancy outside the uterus, causes severe lower abdominal pain and bleeding. Mild cases often cause syncope, while severe cases may experience shock.
