What to do about primary dysmenorrhea

What to do about primary dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea is a relatively normal phenomenon for women. This is because dysmenorrhea is the shedding of the endometrium of women. This shedding may cause abdominal pain, but this pain is minor. Some women will experience severe dysmenorrhea, such as primary dysmenorrhea, which can be said to be a pain in the form of a disease state. So what should women do with primary dysmenorrhea? Let’s take a look at the explanation below.

Primary dysmenorrhea, also known as functional dysmenorrhea, refers to pain during menstruation, which is often spasmodic and concentrated in the lower abdomen. Other symptoms include headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and low back and leg pain. It is a very common disease in young women. Primary dysmenorrhea is not accompanied by obvious pelvic organic diseases.

1. General treatment

Help patients dispel their worries and build confidence. During dysmenorrhea, you can rest in bed or apply hot compress to your lower abdomen, pay attention to menstrual hygiene, and take general non-specific analgesics.

2. Oral contraceptives

It is suitable for patients with dysmenorrhea who need contraceptive measures. Contraceptives can inhibit ovulation, reduce the content of prostaglandins, vasopressin and oxytocin levels in menstrual blood, and inhibit uterine activity.

3. Prostaglandin synthase inhibitors

Generally, you should start taking the medicine 2 to 3 days after the menstrual cramps and pain occur.

4. Calcium channel blockers

Can significantly inhibit uterine contraction. Most people get good results when taking it before menstruation.

Primary dysmenorrhea requires controlled treatment for women. If it is not resolved in time, it will have a certain impact on women's physiology, such as reducing their ability to get pregnant. Therefore, women should not underestimate the impact of primary dysmenorrhea and must go to the hospital for treatment in time.
