What are the methods of pelvic floor muscle recovery training?

For women, the two most important physiological processes in life are pregnancy and childbirth. Although pregnancy is a very happy thing, the issue of recovery after giving birth has always troubled people. The recovery of pelvic floor muscles is the most important one in the recovery. Perhaps many women still don’t know how to recover the pelvic floor muscles. Why do they need to do this recovery after giving birth? So let us take a look at how the experts explain it.

Pelvic floor muscle exercises

Pelvic floor muscle exercise (PFME), also known as Kegal exercise. The method is to tighten the anus, tighten it for at least 3 seconds each time, and then relax. Do it continuously for 15 to 30 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day; or do PFME 150 to 200 times a day, 6 to 8 weeks as a course of treatment.

Pelvic floor muscle training needs to take into account five aspects: ① Intensity, the maximum tension that can be generated by muscle contraction; ② Rate, the ratio of maximum tension to the time required to reach maximum tension; ③ Duration, the length of time that muscle contraction can be sustained or repeated; ④ Repeatability, the number of times a certain tension can be repeatedly contracted; ⑤ Fatigue, the fatigue caused by maintaining muscle contraction to achieve the required or expected tension. Type I fiber training mainly focuses on strength, duration and repetition; Type II fiber training mainly focuses on strength, speed and fatigue.

Pelvic floor muscle stimulation

Electrical stimulation can increase the excitability of neuromuscular system, awaken some nerve cells whose functions have been suspended due to pressure, and promote the recovery of nerve cell function. Electrical stimulation stimulates the contraction of the external urethral sphincter, further enhancing sphincter contraction through neural circuits and improving urinary control. Electrical stimulation of nerves and muscles excites and inhibits sympathetic pathways, inhibits bladder contraction ability, reduces detrusor metabolic level, increases bladder capacity, and enhances urine storage capacity. Electrical stimulation therapy is an active means to promote neurological function recovery after surgery.

It is actually a very good idea to do pelvic floor recovery after giving birth, because it is also very good for the recovery of the uterus, so if you have the financial ability, it is best to do this treatment and recovery. If we do this pelvic floor restoration, the ability of the uterus to contract will also improve, and the pain in our body will be reduced accordingly.
