Can I keep the baby if I get pregnant after taking Danmei?

Everyone is certainly familiar with birth control pills, especially as they appear on television and other media. So, is it safe after taking the birth control pill? Can I still have a child if I take birth control pills during pregnancy?

Let's talk about the efficacy of contraceptive pills first

Theoretically speaking, the error rate for the use of contraceptives alone is 10%, which is professionally called the method error rate. The failure rate of the method increases with the delay in taking the contraceptive pill, so unprotected intercourse should be followed up by taking the pill as soon as possible.

But in fact, in hospitals, we often encounter a large number of people who fail to become pregnant after reliable use of contraceptives. Why is this? That is, there must be some reasons in the use process that lead to an increase in the error rate, that is, the use error rate.

Some people said that I took the birth control pill strictly according to the instructions and took it within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse, so why did I still get pregnant?

The original function of the contraceptive pill is to postpone or prevent ovulation, so that the male sperm will miss the best waiting period and naturally decline. Here comes the problem. If the ovulation period is postponed for 5 or 7 days, and if you have sex again at this time, if you think that you have already used contraceptives, you can no longer use contraceptive methods, then you have made a major mistake, and the safe menstruation period becomes the most unsafe period.

Therefore, in addition to the current month, the appropriate use of contraceptives must also be before the next normal menstrual period to avoid unprotected sexual intercourse. To put it simply, after using the birth control pill once, you must use a condom every time you have sex before the next menstruation.

The inhibitory effect of birth control pills on ovulation may directly manifest as delayed menstruation or spotting, so people are advised not to use birth control pills frequently. Because most of the people who use contraceptives are girls in puberty, they have to go through menstruation for 20 to 30 years and face the problem of fertility. Therefore, effective contraceptive methods should be accepted by everyone, including contraceptive pills, contraceptive rings, contraceptive injections, subcutaneous implants, etc.

Will pregnancy after taking birth control pills affect the child?

Whether the method or application of contraceptives is unsuccessful, there is still the problem of pregnancy. For those who are determined not to have children, they can find a private company and have an abortion. But for some people who love their children and cherish themselves, it is very painful because they are worried that the medicine will cause problems such as child deformity.

In fact, the WHO made a statement about levonorgestrel contraceptives two years ago. In this statement, it was emphasized that there is currently no data to show that the miscarriage rate, malformation rate and neonatal complications of children born after taking the drug are higher than those of those who did not take the drug. In other words, children accidentally conceived by Yuting can be conceived again.

As for Mifei, there is currently insufficient data to show whether it has any effect on test tube embryos.

But there are only two situations in which contraceptive pills fail

1. Take the medicine only after the sperm and egg have fused and the embryo has implanted. Then the medication is in the "all or nothing" stage in medicine. Generally speaking, within 2 weeks after fertilization, the impact of external factors on the combination of sperm and egg is either fatal, resulting in early miscarriage, or has no effect at all. So the most we can do is wait for a natural replacement.

2. Taking medicine delays ovulation. By the time the sperm and egg combine, the medicine has been metabolized, so there is no need to worry about this situation.

Therefore, in general, pregnancy after failed contraceptive pills is not a medical recommendation for termination of pregnancy from a physician's perspective.
