Causes of vulvar itching

Causes of vulvar itching

I think every woman has experienced the trouble of vulvar itching to some extent. Most women do not pay enough attention to it and think that vulvar itching is no big deal. Usually, taking two tablets of antibiotics will effectively relieve the symptoms in two days. But do you know the cause of vulvar itching? Only by clarifying its cause can we truly suppress vulvar itching.

Generally, people do not pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, or use rubber or plastic menstrual belts, and fail to clean the vulva regularly, causing menstrual blood or vaginal secretions to accumulate in the vulva for a long time. Or wearing synthetic underwear on a regular basis will often keep the vulva in a wet and hot environment, which can often cause itching of the vulva.

The most common local cause is increased vaginal discharge, especially vaginitis caused by Trichomonas or fungal infection. The large amount of abnormal vaginal discharge irritates the vulva and makes it itchy.

If you use disinfectant to rinse the vulva and vagina or place certain drugs in the vagina (such as sulfonamides, furacillin, chlorhexidine suppositories, etc.), it may cause vulvar skin allergies or dermatitis and vulvar itching.

Some people often use strong alkaline soap or potassium permanganate solution to clean the vulva, which causes the vulva skin to become dry, lack of oil and become itchy.

People with pinworm infection often feel itchy because pinworms often crawl out of the anus and irritate the area around the anus and the vulva, causing itching, especially at night, and even affecting sleep.

There are also some itching symptoms caused by various vulvar skin diseases, such as vulvar eczema, neurodermatitis, atrophic lichen sclerosus, vulvar dermatitis, etc. These diseases can not only cause different degrees of itching, but also the vulvar skin may have different degrees of whitening, atrophy or thickening changes.

To sum up, it is not difficult to see that most of the itching of the vulva is caused by some of our bad daily habits, so we should pay attention to it in our daily life. It is best to use clean water when cleaning the vulva, not using lotion. We should also pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, try to wear less tight pants, etc. I wish you all good health.
