What are the symptoms of endometriosis?

Recently, a close friend of mine kept complaining about irregular menstruation and heavy menstrual flow. When she went for a physical check-up, she found out that she had endometriosis. In fact, sometimes if we suffer from some diseases, we can show them in our daily lives. So what are the symptoms of endometriosis? The editor consulted professional doctors, and they gave the most professional answers.

1. Causes irregular menstruation and anemia in patients: When endometriosis grows in the pelvic cavity or ovaries, the ectopic endometrium will affect the ovulation function of the ovaries, causing patients to have irregular menstruation, such as increased menstrual volume and prolonged menstrual period.

2. Causes aggravated dysmenorrhea: Endometriosis grows in the ovaries, pelvic peritoneum, recto-vaginal diaphragm, etc. Because the ectopic endometrium is also affected by ovarian hormones during the menstrual cycle and thickens and bleeds, but cannot be drained, it stimulates the surrounding tissues, causing uterine contractions and leading to dysmenorrhea.

3. The patient experiences heavy and painful stool: This usually occurs before or after menstruation. The patient feels unbearable pain when stool passes through the rectum, but does not have this feeling at other times. This is a typical symptom of endometriosis in the rectouterine fossa and near the rectum.

4. Pain during sexual intercourse and disharmonious sexual life: When ectopic endometrium is implanted in the rectouterine pouch and vaginal rectal septum, endometrial nodules, rectal pouch nodules or adhesions may form during sexual intercourse, causing pain.

5. Causes frequent urination, painful urination, and periodic hematuria: It is more common in patients with endometriosis to the bladder, with symptoms of periodic frequent urination and painful urination; when the bladder mucosa is invaded, periodic hematuria may occur.

6. Cause infertility: Endometriosis may affect ovarian function and pelvic environment, or damage them, causing pelvic organ adhesions and fallopian tube distortion, leading to infertility.

Endometriosis is a serious disease that harms women. Clinically, patients generally suffer from long-term menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, pain during sexual intercourse, etc., and more seriously, it leads to infertility. In a 2012 national infertility survey, nearly 50% of infertile women were found to have endometriosis. In further analysis, more than 2/3 of the patients were unaware of endometriosis; 40% of the patients had received treatment for dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation or infertility, of which less than 1/6 had their symptoms alleviated, and more than 90% still had infertility. Therefore, this disease has also been called the "iron killer of female infertility" in recent years.

What are the symptoms of endometriosis? Do you have some understanding through the introduction above? In fact, sometimes if there is a disease, it is best for us to discover it as early as possible so as not to delay the treatment time.
